ABOUT THIS POSITION

This position provides comprehensive early childhood development, parent education and family support services during home visits to families of infants and toddlers and pregnant women. The Home Visitor develops a partnership with each family to encourage meaningful participation in the program. Responsibilities include conducting a minimum of one 90 minute home visit per week for each assigned family (generally 10 families assigned to each Home Visitor), as well as two socializations (playgroups) per month for each case load; consulting with assigned program families to assist them in identifying their strengths and needs, establishing goals, and developing plans with specific steps for implementation through a Family Partnership Agreement (FPA); identifying social service needs and making social service referrals; assessing each child’s health and nutrition needs and planning with families on how to meet identified needs; tracking and monitoring each family’s progress and monitoring the child’s health, developmental, and nutrition status; and completing formal developmental screenings and assessment on assigned children in a timely manner. Currently there are two vacancies in the Human Services Department. This eligible list may be used for any current or future vacancies over the life of the eligible list. RECRUITMENT DATES Recruitment closes November 17, 2014. All materials must be received by 11:59 p.m. on this date SALARY $14.71 (minimum) - $21.40 (maximum) hourly / $30,597 - $44,512 annually. JOB REQUIREMENTS

� Three (3) years of experience working with children aged birth to three. � Must provide own transportation, and must possess a valid driver license and proof of

insurance. The hiring department provides reimbursement for mileage (currently 56.5 cents per mile).

� Must be able to pass a background check as related to requirements for working with children. � Must be able to pass medical exam including screening for TB after contingent job offer made. � Work may include translation for non-English speaking families. � Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. � This position must meet fingerprint clearance card background check requirements appropriate

to employees of the Human Services Department. � Only the highest qualified will be posted to the eligible to hire list.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – The job requirements listed above, plus:

� Possession of a Child Development Associate credential (CDA)

� A degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Family Studies or Social Work is highly desired.

� Experience working cooperatively with parents, infants and toddlers in their home environment and group setting, and experience working with economically disadvantaged and culturally diverse populations.

� Knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education; the principles of child health, safety, and nutrition; adult learning principles; and family dynamics.

� Skilled in communicating with and motivating people. � Knowledge of community resources and the skills to link families with appropriate agencies

and services. � Ability to communicate verbally with families in languages other than English. � Experience writing case management documentation in a database system.
