Pollution has always been an on-going problem in most parts of the world. Environmental

education has taught us a lot about saving the environment and conserving nature but sadly

most of us do not walk the walk when it comes to contributing to this issue. Saving the

environment may be a big issue but little do we know, by taking small steps to construct a

green home as reducing, reusing and recycling and also using renewable energy helps

reduce pollution in a long run.

Firstly, we should all emphasize on the importance of implanting the 3R concept – Reduce,

Reuse & Recycle A simple way to do this is to reduce the use of rubber and plastic. Instead,

use paper bags and cardboard containers. Even the practice of buying in bulk can help save

a lot of packaging material, thus contributing to saving the environment. You can reus e

daily-use items like old wood and old clothes to make furniture and table cloth. Other than

that we can conserve the environment by reducing the usage of CFC products such as

aerosol sprays and air conditioning system. We can really make a difference by cultivating

this concept in our daily lives.

Another way to conserve the environment is to resort to renewable energy as much as

possible. For example we can use solar energy and wind energy to replace fossil fuels. A

solar panel should be installed for water heaters and small wind turbines can be installed at

home for power regeneration. Even geothermal and ground source heat pumps are

available for household use. We can save on electricity usage and reduce power

consumption to save energy. By using alternative energy, we can reduce the dependency on

natural resources.

At the end of the day, the society is the core reason why pollution is an unresolved issue

and we should play our parts to improve the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling

and also by using alternative energy to construct a green home. Little changes in our habits

and way of thinking can go a long way in saving nature. It's time we take steps to create

environmental awareness and resort to simple means like these, to save the environment.
