Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 and was the typical childhood of the son of a farmer. His father, Elias Disney (1859-1941), of Irish ancestry, 2 had come to the United States from Canada and had moved to Chicago shortly after marrying schoolteacher Flora Call (1868-1938), in 1888.
