Year 1

CORE MODULES:

• Foundations

• Shakespeare and the History of Ideas

• Reinventions

• Critical Theory

Year 2:Breadth and Depth

• Four modules: two before 1800 and two after 1800

• Modules cover the history of English literature and

culture from the early Renaissance to the 21st

century

• SH students only (CH students may select modules

as options)

Level 3:SpecialisationOption Modules:

• Witchcraft, Magic, & Gender in Literature

• Places and Journeys

• Sex, Scandal, and Sensation in Victorian Literature

• The Gothic

• Tolkien: Scholar, Critic, Writer

• Dissertation

• Students choose own topics

• Individual supervision

• The culmination of the degree

How will I study?

•One AL and one AS in English Literature and

a Humanities or Social Science; IB at least

one HL5 and one IB SL6 in English and

Humanities or SS.
