EdCamp EdCamp is a form of "unconference" designed specifically for educators and their needs. Unlike traditional conferences and PD days which have schedules set in advance, EdCamp has a schedule of sessions created by participants at the start of the event. Instead of one person standing in front of the room talking for an hour, people are encouraged to have discussions and hands on sessions. EdCamp strives to bring teachers together to talk and learn about the things that matter most to them: their interests, passions, and questions

Nature Nearby—First Steps toward Outdoor Learning and Simple

Ways to Enhance Nature Exploration at your Site

In this session participants will explore why, and how you can put nature investigation into your curriculum, expand nature resources at your site, overcome barriers to outdoor learning and take children outside to joyfully experience whatever nature is around you. After a brief slide show and discussion, participate in a variety of outdoor learning activities that you can use. Sarah Glassco has worked as a naturalist and teacher since 1981, designing and presenting programs in nature centers, for scout troops and in preschool classrooms. As nature/science specialist at Frog Pond Early Learning Center (an outdoor preschool) she leads nature walks, designs activities and supports the teachers in using nature connection and exploration as the foundation for whole-body learning. Throughout her career Sarah has broadened her knowledge of nature lore, deepened her love of the natural world and taken great joy in sharing that love with others.
