Objective: I can… compare and critique the rise and fall of land based empires as opposed to sea based empires during the 15th-18th century C.E.

Empires Review 1450-1750 Each group of 3 will be assigned a land based empire and a sea based

empire to make a poster on. Each deserves its own poster

You need to focus on: How are these empires similar and different? Why did the empires rise, fall, or stay powerful? Who was important in the success and failures of the empires? What were the important events for the empires? Why is something an important source?

Empires Land Based: Ottomans, Japan, China, Russia, India

Sea Based: France, Britain, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands

Individuals Turn In and Complete:

2 Persian Chart for Each Empire Assigned

1 Map of Land Based Empire Showing the growth of the empire over time

1 Map of a sea based empire showing exploration by famous explorers and colonies around the world

Group Turn in and Presentable to others:

You are all Researchers

Must Complete 2 posters: 1 on Land Based Empire, 1 Sea Based Empire

Define roles in the group: speaker, reader, writer

What needs to be on the poster? Map PERSIAN Information Link to a reliable source 2-3 Important People and why important 2-3 Important Events and why important Summary Paragraphs of the rise and fall of

that Empire between 1450-1750
