tellana, the Cibeles Fountain, the Plaza de

Salamanca to Porto

Tour Salamanca this morning then con-

tinue on a scenic drive to Ciudad Rodrigo

to admire the historical architecture or

sample local produce in the fortified old

centre. After lunch you cross the nearby

border into Portugal and arrive in Porto

where you check into your hotel for the

next three nights. This romantic city of

ornate baroque churches, medieval relics

and beaux-arts buildings all crammed

along the banks of the River Douro is

ance. Like a living museum, this far flung

From Coimbra this morning you spend a

relaxing day in quaint Obidos where its
