What is EOPS? EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services is a
Community College Program that provides “over and above”
academic, personal, and financial support to qualified community
college students whose educational and socioeconomic
backgrounds might prevent them from successfully attending
college.
Are you eligible for the EOPS Foster Youth Program?
Assembly Bill No. 194, Chapter 458, Code of Education, defines Foster Youth as a
person who is currently in Foster Care. A ‘Former Foster Youth’ is a person who is
an emancipated Foster Youth and who is up to 24 years of age.
*If by these definitions you could possibly qualify to be a part of our program, please fill out
Interest Form online at: http://www.chaffey.edu/eops/foster_req.shtml or in the EOPS
office and turn interest form into the EOPS office front desk. Proof of documentation will be
required and must be submitted to either the Chaffey College Financial Aid Office or EOPS.
Proof of documentation could be:
Transitional Independence Living Plan (TILP) with your formal name
Court reports indicating your status as a ward of the court
Any documentation from the Department of Social Services and/or The Independent
Living program with your formal name
*(Your ILP coordinator, After Care Services Worker, former Social Worker, or the
California Department of Social Services can verify your foster youth eligibility status.
Available Services:
Designated EOPS counselor
Empowering workshops (required to attend 1 workshop per
semester within the 1st year of EOPS participation)
Referrals to Community Agencies
Coordinated Outreach/Collaborative efforts with the
community partners.

STEP ONE: Apply to Chaffey College. Submit your application online at:

STEP TWO:
Complete the Chaffey College Assessment Test ASAP; if
not already completed schedule an online appointment
with the Assessment Testing Center by following this:

STEP THREE: Make sure to fill out an interest form online at:
http://www.chaffey.edu/eops/foster_req.shtml
or at the EOPS office as soon as possible!
STEP FOUR:
Make sure that you apply for Financial Aid by completing the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as
possible, if you have not applied already. Follow this link:

STEP FIVE:
If you are or were in foster care and have financial need, you may
qualify for up to $5,000 a year for career and technical training or
college. For more details about the California Chafee Grant for
Foster Youth, go to: https://www.chafee.csac.ca.gov/
STEP SIX: Provide Financial Aid or EOPS with the proof of documentation that
shows your status as a ward of the court as a former or current foster
youth. (Examples of Proof of Documentations are listed on page 1 in
bullet points in the eligibility section, “Proof of
documentation could be”)

Chafee Grant Program $5,000 renewable award for former/current foster youth towards college expenses

“Dare to Dream” Applicants must be current college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who plan to pursue
and continue their higher education dreams. Scholarship awards in the amounts of $500 to
$5,000 will be awarded.

Darko Rapotez Memorial College Scholarship Fund $5,000 and $10,000 in college and tuition fee assistance to children who have "aged
out" of the foster care system.

This program awards between $2,500 and 10,000 per student; monies can be used to
purse a bachelor's degree at any accredited American College or University

Just in Time for Foster Youth Its "College Bound" program provides laptops, printers, school supplies and/or dorm
room/apartment furnishings for selected youth.
