Día de los Reyes
In many Latin American countries, children celebrate “Day of the Kings” in addition to Christmas.
Los Reyes
Who are the three kings? What did they do? What gifts did they bring? Why are they important to us?
El 5 de eneroOn the night of January 5th, children in Spain,
Mexico, and other Spanish-speaking countries will put together boxes of hay or grass to leave in front of their homes for the Magi’s camels.
Or, they will line up their shoes lined up at the foot of their beds, hoping to find gifts inside when they wake up.
El 6 de eneroThis is almost like a second Christmas day for kids in
Spanish speaking countries! They get presents and spend time celebrating with their families and communities

King’s Cake“El Rosca de Reyes” – King’s CakeWhat does it look like to you?
A bean, candy, or small figurine of Jesus is placed inside the cake. Whoever gets this “prize” in their piece is responsible for taking it to church on February 2nd, which is the Día de la Candelaria, when Jesus is presented to the temple.
