three-webinar series on ICD-10-CM coding for the IRF-PAI and UB billing claim form for inpatient rehab.

Each webinar will focus on specific clinical groups with particular attention paid to factors that influence

coding for each group, as well as offer more general guidelines to assist coders with complete and accurate

code assignment.

Each webinar will review ICD-10-CM code selection for the scheduled clinical groups and present

additional information on factors that can influence coding, including:

• Principal diagnosis - initial encounter or aftercare• Additional diagnosis

A B O U T T H E P R E S E N T E R S

Patricia Trela, RHIA, has over 25 years of experience in the health care industry with a

specialization in coding, documentation, billing and reimbursement issues. Pat assists LTCH and

rehabilitation facilities with coding, billing and documentation reviews and Health Information Management

("HIM") interim management services, and also provides education for physicians, clinicians, coders and

billing personnel. Pat is the author of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation chapter in the AHIMA

publication Health Information Management Compliance: Guidelines for Preventing Fraud and Abuse, 4th

edition, 2008, and the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation section of the chapter on Coding in Specialized

Settings in the AHIMA publication, Effective management of Coding Services, 4th edition, 2011. She was a

member of the 11-member task force that developed the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and the

Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation ("UDSmr"). Pat provides seminars for professional

organizations on coding, billing and documentation requirements. She is an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/

PCS Trainer/Ambassador and a member of the editorial board of ICD-10 monitor.com.

Lisa Werner is Director of Consulting Services at Fleming-AOD, Inc. and a Product Development

Specialist for eRehabData. Lisa has managed and consulted with healthcare providers of various sizes and

types across the continuum of care including acute med/surg, inpatient rehabilitation, LTACH, skilled

nursing and outpatient rehabilitation. After working for eight years as a speech-language pathologist, Lisa

received her MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As the Director of Program Services

for RehabCare, Lisa managed field consultants and planned the strategic integration of rehabilitation settings

management to streamline staff resources. Most recently she served as a regional Director of Operations for

multiple rehabilitation programs spanning the continuum of rehabilitation care.

She has presented at numerous national and state conferences on topics related to 60% rule changes and

compliance, coding accuracy, documentation strategies, denials management, group utilization and

productivity strategies, effective management of outpatient clinics, and swallowing evaluation and treatment.

She is an active member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, American Medical

Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA), and the Outpatient Task Force of AMRPA.

Since 2006, Lisa has assisted our clients with clinical and financial performance improvement, managing

60% rule compliance, market analysis and strategic business planning, compliance review, CMG analysis,

Medicare appeals, and case management for obtaining maximum profitability.
