    4. Easy Garage Doors

It has been estimated that about 18% of the time a break in occurs because of an

unlocked garage door. The first important takeaway here, which is extremelycommon, is not to leave your garage door opener remote sitting in a car parkedin your driveway. This is one of the first things a thief thinks about, because

although they might not always get that dream come true -- if they did it would beextremely easy for them!

Even though it's a little extra work, consider putting a deadbolt on your garagedoor on the inside of your garage. Sure, you might have to unlock it each timeyou need to access the garage, but it only takes less than a minute and can giveyou real peace of mind.

    5. Easily Locatable Keys

By now you should know that leaving your keys under a doormat is so old hat

that this is one of the first things that burglar's mind thinks about. Still yet, peoplecontinue to try and hide their home keys in such an obvious place. Then therewas the invention of the "fake poop", which only gave criminals an easier andfaster time to break into people's homes. Basically, that invention was justadvertising all over the place for burglars to know where to look. Plant pots andhiding the key above the door frame don't work too either.

Instead, the best place to hide your keys is on your person. Always have abackup pair just in case you should lose your original set and entrust them with aneighbor that you know really well or a family member for backup.
