Macon Premiere of “SELMA”
Macon, GA – The Macon Film Festival and Macon Film Commission are partnering with
AmStar 16 Cinemas to present the Macon premiere of SELMA on Thursday, January 8.
The event will include a red carpet reception from 5:00pm until 6:30pm, movie screening at
7:00pm followed by a Q&A with special guests at 9:15pm. The event will take place at
AmStar Cinemas located at 5996 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31210
“Macon Film Commission is excited about our new partnership with AmStar Cinemas in
promoting Georgiafilmed movies and this event celebrating SELMA is a great way to
kickoff our collaboration,” said Terrell Sandefur, Macon Film Commission chair.
Justin Poole, General Manager of AmStar Cinemas said, “I’m excited to partner with the
Macon Film Festival to bring awareness to movies filmed in Georgia.”
SELMA is the story of a movement. The film chronicles the tumultuous threemonth period
in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting
rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery
culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most
significant victories for the civil rights movement. For more information about SELMA,
please visit http://www.selmamovie.com/
Selma, which opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, January 9, has been nominated for
four Golden Globe Awards including Best Motion Picture and Best Director.
