COACH’S REPORT:

Henley were up-and-about in the first quarter and matched us for inside contested football and outside run. This continued for the second and third quarters, however through the hard word of our midfield and re-bound defenders we broke open the game in the final quarter kicking 5 un-answered goals.

It was fantastic to see the boys grind out another win and is testament to the training the boys are doing.

We will be ready to go again this weekend against Unley Mercedes Jets at home.

COACH’S REPORT:

The last game of the minor round for the Reds’ “C” Grade team saw us up against ‘Unley Jets’ away at the tiny Kingswood Oval.

During the opening 5 minutes of the match Unley Mercedes Jets kicked 3 goals to none to open up the scoring. We looked disorganised in our backlines and were letting their midfielders run free!

However, after that, we ‘got our game together’ and held control of the football and the match.

Our defensive structure was almost impenetrable with, in particular, Sam Alexander and Mitch Brealey chopping off many of Unley Jets’ forward entries and then spreading the ball to our very active forwards to great effect.

The game should have been well and truly over at half time but, primarily as a result of our poor goal kicking (8 goals 19 points!), we had left the door slightly ajar for the Unley Jets.

However, in the end, the Unley Jets were unable to recreate the system they demonstrated in the first quarter as the Reds maintained their intensity and structure during both the 3rd and 4th quarters - and straighten our goal kicking somewhat - to ease away to a 110 point victory.

The Reds’ “C” Grade team is very much looking forward to its Qualifying Final clash against ‘St. Pauls OS’ at Park 10 at 12:15 PM this Saturday.

Whilst the end result was not what we wanted, the endeavour and commitment our team showed was fantastic.

If we can continue to improve, we are in a good position to take the remaining spot in the finals.

F GRADE (DIVISION C5) - ROUND 18

ROUND 18 Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4

PAOC 0.0 – 0 2.2 – 14 3.4 – 22 3.4 – 22

TEA TREE GULLY 6.7 – 43 6.13 – 49 11.13 – 79 15.18 – 108

GOAL KICKERS: Aaron Richards – 2; Will Farminer - 1

BEST PLAYERS: Randall Lloyd, Hiran Lecamwasam, Tom Vasileff, Charlie Olsson, Marcus Butler and Paul Russo

COACH’S REPORT:

The ‘F-Troop’ took on ‘top of the table’ Tea Tree Gully at home at Park 15 on Saturday.

Tea Tree Gully look even stronger than the first time we played them, outscoring us by 43 points to nil in the first quarter. The Reds fought back valiantly in the second quarter to win the quarter 14 points to 6 - which was very pleasing to see.

However, after half-time Tea Tree Gully’s class and depth proved to be far too strong, beating us convincingly by 86 points - but which was a small improvement from last time we played them.

Best on ground was Randall Lloyd in his 100th Game for the club. Every week Randall puts his head over the ball and never backs out of a contest. Hiran Lecamwasam was second best given that, amongst other things, after having been given a tagging role on a dominant opposition wingman, Hiran contained him well for the rest of the game. Tom Vasileff was competitive all day across half-forward - providing a strong marking option. Charlie Olsson fought hard all day in defence, along with Marcus Butler in ruck and Paul Russo across the half-back line.
