The word ethics or commonly also called ethics, derived from the Greek word ETHOS which means the norms, values, rules and measures for the good of human behavior. Here is an understanding of professional ethics according to the experts:

1. Drs. O.P. Simorangkir, ethics or ethics as a human in sight behave according to size and good value.

2. Drs. Sidi Gajalba in the systematics of philosophy: ethics is a theory about the behavior of human actions in terms of good and bad, as far as can be determined by reason.

3. Drs. H. Burhanudin Greetings: ethics is a branch of philosophy that talking about values and moral norms that determine human behavior in life.

Another term synonymous with ethics, namely:1. Susila (Sanskrit), it shows the basics, the principle of the rule

of life (sila) better (su).2. morals (Arabic), meaning moral, and ethical means science

of morals.

The philosopher Aristotle, in his Ethics Nikomacheia, explains Ethics discussion, as follows:

1. Terminius Techicus, definition of ethics in this case, the ethics of science that studied for problems of any act or acts of man.

2. Manner and Custom, discuss ethics-related ordinances and customs inherent in human nature (In Herent in human nature) bound to the notion of "good and bad" behavior or actions of a human being.

Gibson and Mitchell (1995; 449): a code of ethics describes the professional values of a profession which is translated into standards of conduct of its members.

Ethic Code can be interpreted pattern rules, ordinances, signs, ethical guidelines in conducting an activity or occupation.

Ethic Code is a pattern of rules or procedures to guide behavior.

In relation to the profession, that the code of ethics is a procedure or rule that has become standard activities of members of a profession. It describes the professional values of a profession which is translated into behavior standard members.

2.1 Definition of the Ethic Code of Teacher

Here are some understanding of the code of ethics:

Law No. 8 year 1974 On the Principles of Human Resources (Undang-

undang Nomor 8 tahun 1974 Tentang Pokok-pokok Kepegawaian. )

Article 28 states that "the Civil Service has a code of ethics to guide

attitudes, behaviors and actions in outside the office". In explanation of the

Act stated by the Code, the Civil Service as officers of the state, the State

Abdi and Abdi Society have guidelines attitudes, behaviors, and actions in

carrying out their duties and in everyday social life. Furthermore, the Civil

Code was also outlined the main principles of the duties and responsibilities

of civil servants. From the description it can be concluded, that the code of

ethics is a guideline attitudes, behaviors, and actions within the task and in

everyday life.

PGRI to the XIII Congress, Basuni as Chairman PGRI Teacher Code of

Ethics states that Indonesia is the foundation of moral and behavioral

guidance teacher PGRI residents in performing work as a teacher

dedication (PGRI, 1973). From this view it can be concluded that the Code

of Ethics Guru Indonesia has two main elements, namely: (1) as a moral

basis, and (2) to guide behavior.

In Law Teachers and Lecturers (UUGD), Article 43, stated as follows:

(1) To preserve and enhance the honor, dignity and professionalism

in the discharge of teachers, teachers' professional organization

established a code of conduct, (2) Code of Conduct referred to in

paragraph (1) contains a binding ethical norms and behavior of

teacher professionalism in the performance of duties.

Basically the purpose of formulating a code of ethics in the

profession is for the benefit of members of the profession and the

organization itself. The goal entered code is as follows:

To uphold the dignity of the profession

In this case the code of ethics to maintain views and impressions

from outside parties or the public, so that they are not to look down

on the profession will be banned

To maintain and preserve the welfare of its members

The definition of prosperity here includes both physical welfare (or

material) as well as mental well-being (spiritually or mentally).

To improve the quality of the profession

To improve the quality of professional codes of ethics also contains

norms and recommended that the members of the profession are

always trying to improve the quality of the devotion of its members.

To improve the quality of professional organizations

To improve the quality of a professional organization, it is required to

every member to actively participate in building professional

organizations and activities designed organization.

To increase the devotion of the members of the profession.

Improving service above personal gain.

Having a strong professional organization and tightly woven.

Raw determine its own standards.

PRINCIPLE I: Ethical Conduct toward Students› The professional educator deals considerately and justly

with each student, and seeks to resolve problems, includingdiscipline, according to law and school policy.

› The professional educator does not intentionally expose thestudent to disparagement.

› The professional educator does not reveal confidentialinformation concerning students, unless required by law.

› The professional educator makes a constructive effort toprotect the student from conditions detrimental to learning,health, or safety.

› The professional educator endeavors to present factswithout distortion, bias, or personal prejudice.

1. The professional educator applies for, accepts, or assigns a position or a responsibility on the basis of professional qualifications, and adheres to the terms of a contract or appointment.

2. The professional educator maintains sound mental health, physical stamina, and social prudence necessary to perform the duties of any professional assignment.

3. The professional educator continues professional growth.4. The professional educator complies with written local school policies

and applicable laws and regulations that are not in conflict with this code of ethics.

5. The professional educator does not intentionally misrepresent official policies of the school or educational organizations, and clearly distinguishes those views from his or her own personal opinions.

6. The professional educator honestly accounts for all funds committed to his or her charge.

7. The professional educator does not use institutional or professional privileges for personal or partisan advantage.

1. The professional educator does not revealconfidential information concerningcolleagues unless required by law.

2. The professional educator does not willfullymake false statements about a colleague orthe school system.

3. The professional educator does not interferewith a colleague's freedom of choice, andworks to eliminate coercion that forceseducators to support actions and ideologiesthat violate individual professional integrity.

1. The professional educator makesconcerted efforts to communicate toparents all information that should berevealed in the interest of the student.

2.The professional educator endeavors tounderstand and respect the values andtraditions of the diverse culturesrepresented in the community and in his orher classroom.

3.The professional educator manifests apositive and active role inschool/community relations

The formulation of the code of ethics is a framework of guidelines for

teachers of teachers in carrying out duties and responsibilities in

accordance with the results of the congress PGRI XIII, which

consists of the following nine items:

Teacher guides students devoted entirely to shape human

development areas Pancasila.

Teachers have professional honesty in implementing the curriculum

according to the needs of individual students

Teacher communicating, especially in obtaining information about

children, but shy away from any form of abuse.

Teachers create an atmosphere of school life and maintain

relationships with parents as well as possible for the benefit of

students.

Teachers maintain good relations with the communities around the

school and the wider community for educational purposes.

Teachers individually and / or jointly seek to develop and improve the

quality of the profession.

Teachers create and maintain good relations between people of

teachers based on the work environment and in the overall

relationship.

Teachers jointly maintain, develop and improve the quality of

teachers' professional organizations as a means of devotion.

Teachers are implementing all provisions of government policy in the

field of education.

What kind of car I drove,

What kind of house I lived in,

How much I had in the bank account,

Or what my clothes looked like.

But the world will be a better place

because I was important in the life of a

child.
