CAMERA SHOTS AND ANGLESThriller movies use a range of different camera shots and angles to

capture facial expression, create tense moments and to create suspense. Common camera shots in thrillers are POVs, close ups, extreme close ups and low/high angle shots. We used many of these shots just like those in thrillers.-POV/ high angle

shot

- Close up

- Extreme Close up

- Low angle shot

SOUNDNon- Diegetic sound and Diegetic sound is used in thrillers. Non-

Diegetic sound is mainly used to make the viewer feel a instant high suspense. The viewer will be watching the film thinking about what is going to happen, the sound makes the lead up much more suspenseful and hopefully make them jump which is what the thriller genre wants out of the audience.(to thrill them) Just like every thriller we have incorporated Non- Diegetic sound to fit the genre to make our film professional but also scary.

Diegetic sound is used in thriller films for effect this could be the sound of punches, pushes, running away ECT. In our film we have also Diegetic soung for example the shutting of the door, the clanging of the alcohol bottles, the opening of the curtains and many more.

MISE-EN-SCENEThere are different elements of Mise-en-scene such as: lighting,

costume, props and space. These all help to create a type of movie in this case thriller. Like many thrillers we have also used Mise-en-scene in our movie.Lighting is used in our thriller as we have used different levels of low key lighting to create mystery or an omen feel. High key lighting is used to show facial expression in our thriller film.Props are used in our thriller for effect for example alcohol bottles which suggest the stereotype of teenagers all doing the same, drinking. A knife to show how the victim was killed. Our school as the characters are at the age of being in school.Space is used in our film for example personal distance which is to be reserved for friends and acquaintances. Once this personal distance has been invaded it can cause conflict. In our film the victims personal space is invaded and she is killed.

NARRATIVEOur opening scene to a thriller film involve three young students at

sixth form. They are in the schools common room, the main characters have a conversation where they plan to meet later that night to revise for a test. However why this conversation is taking place the other main character over hears this conversation and is furious and she likes the boy who is asking another girl to his house to revise. Once at the boys house the innocent girl arrives hoping to revise for her exam however the boy has different ideas, he wants to get the innocent girl drunk. After his persistence doesn't get him far he loses his temper slightly and pushes he girl to drink. The innocent girl leave the room to freshen up in the bathroom. Little does she know the villain has followed her to the house and has hidden behind the shower curtain. She then kills the innocent victim. The boy hears the noises of screaming and wonders what's happening so he calls the girls name and sees the villain standing on the top of the stairs with a bloody knife.

CHALLENGES TO THE GENREWe believe that our film challenged the genre because there is a

stereotype that males have more power than women , however in our movie the female is the powerful one in which she kills the victim. This is also challenging because females only have power in films due to the sexual objectification however in our film the villain does is not seen as a sexual object and does not se x in order to be powerful therefore challenging the genre. Moreover we did follow the genre pattern in the fact that Liam was a typical teenage male who drinks alcohol and tricked the innocent girl into believing she was going to revise when in fact he wanted to get her drunk. We also followed the genre pattern that the girl was innocent and naive in the fact that she believe the boy. She also did not have power as the girl ended up dead.
