Spotlight on Gelato JunctionGelato Junction is a fabulous choice

when looking for your next sweet treat! Family owned and operated by Jim and Paula Hawkins, it carries a variety of flavors of both gelato and ice cream, as well as specialty coffees. Established over 3 years ago, Gelato Junction get’s the majority of their produce for their gelato from local orchards in order keep the ingredients fresh, as well as support other local businesses. In addition, they get their ice cream base from Graff Dairy and their coffee from Colorado Legacy Coffee.

According to Denise, daughter to owners Jim and Paula and also the manager of the downtown location, gelato is an Italian dessert, much like ice cream, however a bit healthier. American ice cream has a minimum of 16% milk fat, whereas dairy based gelato has less than 4% milk fat. Popular in European countries for centuries, it is becoming increasingly popular here in our country for that reason. Gelato Junction carries more than 90 flavors of Gelato, rotating them, and offering up to 16 at a time in their downtown location, along with 16 flavors of ice cream.

9 flavors of gelato are offered at their new location off Patterson in Grand Junction. Some flavors are seasonal, such as Palisade Peach, which is a favorite! Gelato Junction has created several flavors of their very own, including Avocado, Sweet Corn, and Lavender to name a few. Their most popular gelato flavors at Gelato Junction are Lemon, Peach, and Chocolate. Ice cream favorites are Jack Daniels Chocolate Chip, Yellow Cake, and Candy Land. Look for Gelato Junction’s products in many local restaurants, as well as markets and festivals!

Gelato Junction now has two locations in Grand Junction. The downtown location is open 7 days a week and is located at 449 Main Street. The new Patterson location is open select hours Monday-Saturday at 2913 F Road next to Safeway. gelatojunction.com
