Program Soccer is widely recognized as one of the world’s most popular athletic activities, but is just starting to emerge in North America as a top tier sport. Everest Academy is pleased to announce the introduction of Soccer as a Skills development program alongside Hockey, Lacrosse, Baseball, Golf and the popular All Sports program. Program Soccer is immediately available as part of the Athletic program and is fully integrated across all age groups for both boys and girls. Soccer students train with expert coaching up to 4 times per week as part of their normal school day. Student-athelets also experience a daily comprehensive health and fitness program to support their soccer develop- ment. Coach - Richard Bucciarelli Richard is a soccer fitness coach and president of Soccer Fitness Inc., a soccer-specific strength and conditioning company in Toronto. Richard has an extensive background and experience in both training and coaching soccer players of all ages and levels of ability. A certified Kinesiologist, Richard also holds certifications with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP-CEP), National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), and the American Council on Exercise (CPT, CLWM). He also holds the distinction of being the only trainer in Canada to attend and present research at both the 6th World Congress on Science and Football (Antalya, Turkey, January 2007), the First World Conference on Science and Soccer (Liverpool, England, May 2008), and the 7th World Congress on Science and Football (Nagoya, Japan, May, 2011). In addition to his many qualifications in soccer fitness training, Richard is also an avid soccer coach. A graduate of York University’s Coaching Certification Program, he also currently holds an Ontario Provincial “B” License, as well as United States National “A” and “Y” Licenses, in coaching. Presently, Richard divides his time between his business, which provides science-based strength and conditioning training at the Soccer Fitness Training Centre, and both the Toronto FC Academy, as well as the Canadian National Women’s U17 soccer teams, for which he is the Fitness Coach. Coach - Matija Vugrinicek Matija Vugrinicek is a soccer-specific Strength and Condi- tioning Coach, and Senior Trainer at Soccer Fitness Inc. Originally born in Croatia, Matija played provincial level soccer for four years for CSC Mississauga and Mississauga Falcons Soccer Club. He has several years experience in training soccer players and other athletes of all age groups and levels of ability. Matija’s academic credentials include an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University (2011), NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (2011) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Exercise and Lifestyle Management from Humber College in 2012. In May of 2012, Matija completed a one month internship with a professional soccer club from Europe- GNK Dinamo Zagreb. He is presently in the process of obtaining the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology’s CEP – Certified Exercise Physiologist – certification.
