Everglades City School Celebrate Literacy Week 2017

Monday, January 23- Door decorating contest PK-12th grade, “Reading

Opens Doors.” All school dress-up day- Figurative Language theme.

o Literacy Night- Figurative Language theme, two sessions for parents

to attend: on the media center and how to find books to read. There

will be books given away, figurative language themed food, and one

Nook will be given away.

Tuesday, January 24- Class Favorite Book Day- Classes PK-12 will choose a

favorite book and all dress-up as characters from that book. There will be a

parade to see everyone’s costumes. High School Drama students will work

with students to read their favorite books with dramatic flair.

Wednesday, January 25- Spelling Bee at lunch. Elementary students create

and wear Vocabulary hats. Reading Counts students recognized by the

Media Specialist.

Thursday, January 26- Poetry Day! Videos of poetry readings at lunch.

Poetry readings by selected students on the news.

Friday, January 27- Civics Bowl! All school dress-up day wear your favorite

book t-shirt or reading themed t-shirt.
