i%. A margin of <cm should be left on each side of the paper.

ii%. A line should be dra"n under each completed 3uestion.

iii%. 0ach page should be numbered at the bottom in the format &age x ofy.

iv%. /n each page except the 'nal page +continued should be typed inthe bottom right hand corner. /n the 'nal page type $*nd% after a line.

v%. There is no re3uirement to use italics, in the rubric or general layout.

vi%. uestions should not be split over t"o pages if at all possible. (f it isessential to split a 3uestion ma!e sure the student is a"are that furthermaterial is on the next page $type x continues over the page: at thebottom right and then type x continues:. At the top left of the nextpage%. This is especially important for 3uestions incorporating referencetables etc. Unless you ma!e a speci'c re3uest one "ay or the other it isnot predictable "hether any given paper "ill be printed on separatesheets or bac!ed. &lease chec! if this "ill aect the layout.

vii%. /nly if the rubric and headings on the front page are particularlylengthy should you start 3uestion = on a ne" page, other"ise continue

viii%. 6iagrams must be clearly dra"n in $lack  in!. They should beincorporated in the text "herever possible, but if submitted separatelyclear instructions should be given for their collation. &lease note thatphotographs and half-tone illustrations do not print "ell.

ix%. (llustrations etc. should be scanned and incorporated electronically"herever possible $other"ise, please do not use sellotape to a>x anyphotocopies to the masters, use a small 3uantity of light paste, and ma!esure the photocopies are good, dar! and clear%.

- ( should also li!e to remind you of the supreme importance of security inrelation to examination matters. &lease ensure that any hard copies ofpapers, "hen not actually being "or!ed on, are al"ays under loc! and!ey, and that students are excluded from o>ces during those times "henthey are being typed.
