EXPRESSIONS2018A CALENDAR CELEBRATING ACTIVE AGING AND THE ARTS
SERENITY GARDEN The Founta ins a t B ronson P lace
Welcome to EXPRESSIONS, Watermark’s 18th annual calendar celebrating active aging and the arts. Our communities, like this calendar, are collective creations of friendly, caring individuals who are generous with their time and talents. Whether expressing their individual creativity through paint, clay, yarn, stone or an outstretched hand, they seem to find no shortage of inspiration.
Norm Slack, who is known for using “found” materials in his art, discovered his latest inspiration in the forest surrounding The Fountains at Bronson Place. Gathering and transporting every branch himself, he wove what resembles a giant bird’s nest. That’s Norm relaxing as whimsical wooden birds fly through his marvelous “Thicket” meditation garden.
I wish to thank every resident who contributed to this edition of EXPRESSIONS for reminding us that sometimes the inspiration you are seeking is right in front of you. This calendar inspires me personally every year and hope it will do the same for you. To view more works of art by residents of Watermark communities coast to coast, please visit our online gallery at www.watermarkcommunities.com.

JANUARY2018 GISELA VOYEZ The Founta ins a t G reenbr ia r
THE SEA OF GALILEE OILS
Gisela was born in Germany in 1927 and was fortunate to survive World War II under Nazi occupation. Before she moved to The Fountains in 2014, Gisela painted this scene from a photograph she admired. While she received some formal art training when in school, it’s evident from the detail in this painting that her talent is innate.

ONIONS OILS
Painting and reading are two of Vivian’s favorite pastimes at The Watermark at Trinity. She moved to the community shortly after it opened last year and says she loves the area and the people. Vivian has received formal art instruction during a number of painting classes over the years and judging by this lovely still life, that training has certainly paid off.
