Scientific Name: Agalychnis annaeHabitat: northern Cordillera de Talamanca, Cordillera de

Tilarán and Cordillera Central, and mostly surviving in San Jose.

Approx. Population: unknownThreats: fungal disease, known remaining populations of this

species are threatened by an introduced fish that preys on the larvae. This species is also found in the international pet trade.

Measures to save it: considering the establishment of a captive-breeding program for this species.

habitat due to the expansion of settlement, and by poaching for rhino horn.

Javan Tiger

Scientific Name: Panthera tigris sondaicaHabitat: In Java mountain ranges and forests. In their

last years they were only found in reserves.Threats: Rapid increase in human population leading

inevitably to a severe reduction in habitat. Forests were felled then converted for agricultural use. Along with this tigers were merciless hunted and poisoned, and they experienced growing competition for prey species with wild dogs and leopards.
