SUE JOHNSON IDCN FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
Welcome to the third annual review of IDCN. 2014 was an exciting year for IDCN, with network launches in Los Angeles, Dubai, New York and Basel - taking the total to 10 locations - the expansion of the IDCN Board new global corporate members joining such as Technip, ABB, Mondelez, Colgate Palmolive, International Flavors & Fragrances Inc, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and the launch of the idcn.info website.
The IDCN Centre of Expertise continued to provide support to existing and new networks, and recognition for IDCN grew with requests to present at many Diversity and Talent conferences in the Americas and Europe.
I would like to recognise the ongoing hard work and contribution from our 130+ partner volunteers. Without them, their enthusiasm and commitment, IDCN would not exist in its current format today.
To date, over 160 partners have found a job with the support of IDCN and 1,900+ partners are involved around the Globe with over 70 active member companies.
In 2015, a new IDCN network is planned for Brussels and we will continue our expansion into the Asia Pacific region with networks in Hong Kong, Beijing and potentially Singapore.
I look forward to welcoming you all to a network event, onboarding meeting or member call during the year, and thank you for your support and contribution to making IDCN a global solution to ease the job search for dual career process, mobile couples.
Warm regards,
Head of Gender Balance and Diversity - Nestlé
WELCOME FROM...

The need for Talent is a key topic for CEOs and Company leadership teams. Dual Career couples are more and more becoming the norm, and so the need to attract, develop and retain this Talent is key in today’s competitive environment.
IDCN is a collaboration of Companies, NGOs and Academic institutions with the purpose of facilitating the job search for mobile employee partners, and providing member companies access to a turnkey pool of Talent.
IDCN is now in its fourth year, and from the successful pilot created in the Lake Geneva region of Switzerland, the IDCN business model has proven to be an innovative, fast growing and engaging solution that is in line with this new global trend. The network has expanded beyond Europe into
the Americas and Asia Pacific region, and attracts Corporate Members from all industries.

• 2011 - Lake Geneva region (Pilot location)
• 2012 - Mexico City, Paris and Zurich
• 2013 – London and Sao Paulo
• 2014 – Los Angeles, Basel, New York and Dubai.
• More than 70 organisations (Multinationals, non-profits, educational institutions) are part of one or more of these 10 locations
• An Executive Board of eight Companies has been formed to manage and evolve IDCN at a global level
• Creation of the IDCN nonprofit Association with a long term vision of becoming a successful global solution to the dual career challenges

SUCCESS STORIES
Belle YinUPSDubai, UAE. Relocated from Switzerland
"Moving from Lausanne to Dubai was quite a change for me, it’s so different from Europe. It’s a very fast paced environment. I lost no time and started my job search right away. IDCN was such a great help. I had already volunteered for the IDCN in Switzerland, and did so again in the newly set up branch in Dubai. The IDCN events here are very effective and almost like a job fair, since a number of international companies are looking for and recruiting talents from this platform. One of my fellow volunteers had forwarded my CV to my current employer UPS. I had the chance to meet with a UPS HR Manager during an IDCN event. This lead to further interviews and in the end, I got a job offer."
Dana MikulovaLafarge Paris, France. Relocated from Mexico
Ana PaunovicPhilip Morris International Lake Geneva Area, Switzerland. Relocated from Serbia
"Since 2007, I have relocated with my partner already three times, and each time I have found a job. In a new country, the job search is always full of surprises due to different cultures and habits, one needs to discover how the local labour market works. Here, the IDCN is providing such valuable support! Things like the CV clinic, the easy access to HR professionals of corporate members during IDCN events and the possibility to meet people with the same objective can all accelerate the job search.
After my last move, I signed my work contract after only four months."
"I felt lost after landing in Geneva. I did not know where to start to get my career, social and fam-ily life restarted. Then I heard about the IDCN, a network for people like me. I attended my first event in December 2013 and I was extremely impressed by the organization, the speakers and the concept of the event. I finally felt like I belonged somewhere! I immediately started to volunteer, and that’s when my career prospects in Switzerland seemed much brighter. The interview invita-tions I finally received mostly came through my engagement with IDCN. This also led me to my current position at Philip Morris International. IDCN helped me not only land my first job in Switzerland, it also helped me to create a network of people with whom I share more than just working on the same project."

SUCCESS STORIES
Joelle HerinIDCN Coordinator Measurements TeamZurich, Switzerland
"I joined IDCN in 2012 and later started to volunteer.
Networking groups such as IDCN are definitely important: you develop new professional relationships, you get to meet representatives of potential employers and you gain an understanding of the local job market.
Volunteering at IDCN also gave me the possibility to remain active and develop new skills. And I made new friends which helped with my integration!"
Gerardo CastroIDCN Partner Committee MemberMexico City, Mexico
"Being a member of IDCN has been a very good experience for me so far. It helped me to see that I am not the only one who is fighting to get back into the job market.
As a member of the IDCN Partner Committee, I can help other people while I am also doing something for myself.
For example, building a website was something new for me and it increased my interest in becoming a web designer. In fact, I have taken courses and I already had the chance to create two websites – and the next customer is already waiting for me!"
Virve TulamoIDCN Events TeamLake Geneva Region, Switzerland
"I joined the IDCN events team because it is an opportunity to get involved locally and build a professional and personal network in my new home country.
The best thing about volunteering is the chance to cooperate with people from various backgrounds while working on very concrete projects.
It really helped to keep my spirits up during the occasionally frustrating job search."

Tobias Simons Group Vice PresidentHead of Global MobilityABB
"The IDCN is a consortium of like-minded organizations.
Partners and spouses of ABB’s assignees have unrivaled direct access to recruiters at some of the largest multi-national organizations in their location. On the other hand, ABB also has access to an amazing talent-pool of individuals from all across the world. That’s a pretty simple win-win situation for both sides. This is why ABB is committed to continue investing and developing the IDCN networks in our key locations."
Benoit BiardDistrict Human Resources DirectorUPS Indian Sub-Continent, Middle-East and Africa
"Recruiting with IDCN was a unique opportunity to both access a high level and experienced pool of candidates as well as demonstrating our interest to expatriates, internal or external.
It also provides a great networking opportunity for HR managers."
Marcella RispoIntegration AdvisorIMD business school
"IMD understands the importance of offering support to the spouses newly relocated in the region, whether IMD course participants or staff members.
The IDCN, through its various activities, provides opportunities to understand the local professional landscape as well as the do’s and dont's of the current job market.
By meeting corporate members, hardworking volunteers as well as each other, partners can stay motivated, informed and active – an excellent way to complement and boost the lonely work of the job seeker."
