5. FULL TIME STUDY / PART TIME STUDY

Most of the study programmes are performed as full-time course in accordance with the study

calendar, allowing the students full participation in all their lectures, practical classes and seminars.

Part time courses are performed according to special schedule, mostly in the afternoons and on

Saturdays. All forms of pedagogic work on these courses are executed in 30 % of the hours of the

full-time courses.

6. ECTS & GRADING SYSTEM

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard for comparing the study performance of higher education students across the European Union. ECTS credits present the value allocated to a certain course and describe the quantity of work each course requires from a student.

7. UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMME

(FIRST CYCLE)

University Degree programme in Business and Economics

(Offered in Slovenian or English language)

The programme combines theoretical, methodological, and applied knowledge in business and

economics. The programme uses the most advanced knowledge management and analytical tools

to develop and train students for employment. Students gain basic theoretical knowledge to use in

practice. Area of specialization in 2nd year offered in English: International business or

Marketing. Both specializations have an option or student exchange programme abroad or

possibility of double degree or additional Erasmus + traineeship abroad.

Areas of specialization in 2nd year offered in Slovenian: Business Economics, International Economics, Bank and Financial management, Money and Finance, Management, Business Informatics, Business Logistics, Entrepreneurship, Accounting and Auditing, Marketing, Tourism.

Graduates of the programme are qualified to perform the most demanding professional tasks in

industry and public administration.

Specialization Marketing - offered in English

The programme is designed in a way that the theoretical knowledge acquired during studies integrates

with practice (preparation of marketing projects and case studies, visiting guests from business etc.).

The Marketing programme provides students with knowledge and skills from the field of marketing

along with a spectrum of vital business functions and a basic understanding of the business

environment. It is offered within the university degree – Business and Economics Sciences. After

completing their studies, students have many career opportunities in marketing research, advertising,

brand management, organizing events, public relations etc. The undergraduate programme also offers

an excellent springboard for further education on master level. Students are encouraged to enrich and

upgrade their knowledge by enrolling in any of our Master programmes.

Specialization International Business - offered in English

The study of international business will provide you with the knowledge required for positions like a

department manager for international business/marketing, branch representative for foreign markets,

branch manager, marketing specialist in a sales branch abroad or a foreign branch in Slovenia,

manager of a department, independent advisor in the public service or in institutions dealing with

international commerce, a sales or supplies manager for foreign markets, a brand manager, logistics

manager etc.

Double Degree options

A Double Degree is an approved combined study programme leading to two degrees from two universities. After successful completion of all the programme requirements you receive an undergraduate degree from FELU as well as an undergraduate degree from Partner University.

Professional Degree Programme in Business Administration

(Offered only in Slovene language)

Programme emphasizes practical issues and problem solving. Students are trained for practical application of skills, analytical procedures, and business techniques. Students are encouraged to develop independent thought and express their own views, and emphasize collaboration and teamwork. Through the 9 areas of study available, students focus on business ethics, professional responsibility, and social responsibility.

APPLICATION & ENROLMENT

Call for Enrolment in First Cycle study programmes for Academic Year 2018/2019 is published – only

in Slovene language.

Candidates submit the application for enrolment and recognition of foreign education through eVŠ

web portal (portal.evs.gov.si/prijava/?locale=en).

Application for citizens of Slovenia and EU citizens (including citizens of Norway,

Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland, persons granted international protection and foreign citizens with permanent residence in the Republic of Slovenia if themselves or at least one of their parents or guardians is a taxpayer in Slovenia). The first application deadline from February to March.

The second application deadline in August.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Master Programmes: Banking and Financial Management, Money and Finance, Economics, Management, International Business, Business Informatics, Business Logistics, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Accounting and Auditing, Marketing, Tourism:

■ Graduates of first-level programmes in relevant study programmes with at least 180 ECTS, or those that have completed the current programme of study for qualification in relevant study programmes; ■ Graduates of equivalent courses listed in the previous paragraph in unrelated areas of study and must complete additional academic requirements of 12 ECTS: Microeconomics 1 (6 ECTS) and Introduction to Business (6 ECTS).

Master of Quantitative Finance and Actuarial Science Programme:

■ Graduates of first-level programmes in relevant study areas with at least 180 ECTS; ■ Graduates of a programme of study for graduate qualification in relevant areas of study; ■ Graduates of equivalent courses listed in the above paragraphs from other areas of study and completing additional academic requirements of 12 ECTS: Microeconomics 1 (6 ECTS) and Mathematics for Business and Economic Sciences (6 ECTS). Undergraduate programmes in the first and second paragraphs that are considered relevant areas of study for entry into the Master's Degree Programme are those by Iscedovo classification for Social Sciences (31), Mathematics and Statistics (46) and those by the Klassius classification Economics (314), Physics (440), and Physics and Astronomy (441).

IMB - International Full Time Master Programme in Business and Organization:

■ Finished bachelor programme with at least 180 ECTS. ■ Proficiency in English - since the formal language of the programme is English (not only classes, team work and study materials are available in English language, but also internal communication is carried out in English). ■ 2 reference letters - can be written by an employer, academic personnel, non-profit organization manager, trainer or any other reliable and trust-worthy person, that can provide an opinion or a proof that the student is talented, hard-working, creative, top achiever, etc.

Master of Public Sector and Environmental Economics Programme

■ Graduates of first-level programmes in relevant study areas with at least 180 ECTS; ■ Graduates of study programmes for graduate qualification in relevant study areas; ■ Graduates of equivalent courses listed above from other areas of study and must complete academic requirements equivalent to 12 ECTS: Microeconomics 1 (6 ECTS) and Introduction to Business (6 ECTS). Undergraduate programmes in the first and second paragraphs that are considered relevant areas of study for entry into the Master's Degree Programme are those by Iscedovo classification for Social Sciences (31), Business and Administration (34), and for Environment Economics and Environmental Sciences (422).

Master of Management and Economics in Health Care Programme

■ Graduates of the study programme for the first Bologna Process cycle and the study programme for a previous graduate qualification in a relevant area of study according to Frascati classification - Social Sciences, Business and Administration Sciences, Natural Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Humanities with at least 180 ECTS;

■ Graduates of the programme of study that are not included in the previous paragraph and earned at least 180 ECTS. Student must complete additional academic requirements equivalent to 12 ECTS: Microeconomics 1 (6 ECTS) and Introduction to Business (6 ECTS).

Master of Sports Management Programme

■ Graduates of first-level programmes in relevant areas of study with at least 180 ECTS or those who have completed the current programme of study for graduate qualification in relevant areas of study: Social Sciences (ISCED 31 type), Business and Administration Sciences (ISCED 34 type), Physical Education - Teaching (ISCED 14 type), Personal Service (ISCED 81 type), Law (ISCED 38 type). ■ Graduates of equivalent courses listed in the previous paragraph, along with unrelated areas of study that complete additional study requirements of 12 ECTS: Introduction to Business (6 ECTS) and Anthropological Kinesiology (6 ECTS).

Candidates submit the application for enrolment and recognition of foreign education through

In the application, you can apply for two programmes (first choice and the second one in case you would not be accepted for the first one).

Please note that all required documents, together with the printed and signed application form have to be received by Faculty of Economics before the deadline.

Candidates are required to send by post the following documents together with the application form:

■ Your legalized* original Bachelor diploma. (Which we will return together with the final decision – or immediately by your special request).

■ Transcript of records of your Bachelor study.

■ English or Slovene official translation of your diploma and transcript of records.

■ A short chronological description of your entire education (sample here).

■ Motivation letter (approximately 500 words).

(Candidates applying to a master`s programme offered in English language are required to submit the letter of motivation in English language (approximately 500 words).

■ Certificate of advanced English language skills (only in case you are applying for programmes in English language). (Candidates must present a language certificate of their English language skills: The minimum required scores are: TOEFL: TOEFL score of 79 (IBT), IELTS: IELTS score of 6 for English, Cambridge/Oxford: B2. Instead of the international certificate attesting knowledge of the English language (such as TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT, etc.) candidate can submit a certificate of attending student exchange programme, offered in English language (Erasmus exchange, summer school etc.) or similar).

■ Copy of your passport.

* Legalization of the documents: The original of the final certificate(s) representing the general requirement for access to higher education in the country of issue, legalized on the basis of:

The 1961 Hague Convention (at the court with territorial jurisdiction where the certificate or diploma was issued); with a properly completed Apostille form affixed, or The Authentication of Documents in International Traffic Act. State parties to the 1961 Hague Convention can be found at this website.

If the student/candidate can find the country on the list of the Authentication of Documents in International Traffic Act, he/she should take an original diploma to the Court, where his/hers university is and get a seal “Apostille” there.

If the country is not on the list, the original diploma needs to be legalized with the following seals:

the seal of Ministry of Higher Education in the country of issue of your diploma,

the seal of Ministry of justice,

the seal of Ministry of foreign affairs.

You do not need to legalize your diploma (however you still need to submit the original

document) if you have finished your previous education in the following countries (due to

The recognition procedure is a part of the enrolment procedure. The candidate submits the recognition application together with the study enrolment application (on the online eVŠ portal).

Tuition fee is paid by:

concluded bilateral agreement (Slovenia has concluded bilateral agreements with Macedonia,

Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia) and foreign citizens with permanent residence in the Republic

of Slovenia if themselves or at least one of their parents or guardians is a taxpayer in Slovenia;

■ all students with already acquired equivalent degree of education.

11. YEAR PLUS During their first year at the University of Ljubljana, international students may attend the so-

called Year Plus, in which the Slovenian language courses are mandatory. Year Plus is designed to

help international students to adapt to the Slovenian system and culture in their first year of study

in Slovenia. Target group is International students in their first study year at the University of

Ljubljana bachelor or master degree programmes.

12. ALUMNI AMBASSADORS International Alumni Ambassadors are FELU graduates who can assist prospective, new and current student with studying for a Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana degree (through the Faculty of Economics International programs), or FELU joint, double or other degrees, and programs, including exchange and Summer School programs. They can advise you on how they managed their studies successfully and offer tips on being international student living in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Joel-Alex Bertrand-Poitras from Canada I chose the University of Ljubljana due to its reputation within Slovenia as the most outstanding higher education institution. I also chose the FELU because of its ‘Triple Crown’ accreditation, seeing it as a mark of distinction and source of recognition for my future endeavours.
