LET’SEAT!

While eating dinner:• Read 1 John 3:16-18

• How do we know what love really is?• What are ways we can share God’s love with others?• When has been a time when you’ve expressed love in this way?• What could you do to live out the love you’ve been shown? As an individual? As a family?

• Take some time as a family to pray.• Thank God for who He is and for the ways He’s blessed and provided for your family.• Spend some time praying for one another (Needs, Prayers of Encouragement)

TIP

BUILD ATENT!Camping isn’t camping without a tent!

Here’s a couple ideas:• Build a blanket tent (fort) the “traditional” way by draping blankets and sheets on furniture.• For the more courageous - build a “Fan-Fort” (here’s a link with directions: www.wikihow.com/Fan-Fort)

GAMETIME Here’s some ideas for family game time in (and out) of your tent:

• Choose your family’s favorite board game (turn out all the lights and use a lantern/lamp)• Camping Charades (Ideas: Fishing, Hiking, Chopping Wood, Swatting Mosquitoes, Building Fire, Applying Sunblock, Skipping Stones, Climbing Trees, Pitching a Tent, Roasting Marshmallows)• C-A-M-P-I-N-G Scavenger Hunt (Each person must find a set of items that begin with the letters in “camping”)

TIPSpread some peanut butter on the top cracker before placing it on the hot marshmallow.

Snack time!Prepare the s’mores as a family - here’s how!• Preheat the oven to 450• Break your graham crackers in half and place them a few inches apart on a cookie sheet• Place one marshmallow onto the top of each graham cracker and bake for 5 min (or until golden brown)• Remove from oven and place a piece of chocolate on top of the marshmallow• Top with another cracker and let sit for 2 minutes to cool.

STORYTELLING

Back in your tent...Use these “Story Starters” to get the story time rolling.

Read the starter, then each person gets one minute to continue the story. Keep it going around the circle as long as you can.• One night on the African plain, I came upon a rare white rhinoceros. All of the sudden...• As I lay stranded on the dessert island, a bottle washed upon the shore with a note that said...• I glanced out the back window and saw a ___________ . This was no ordinary __________ , rather..• Or, come up with your own!

starters

FAMILYMOVIE Grab your laptop or tablet and watch a family favorite together in your tent.

TIPPop some popcorn.

If you have a wood fireplace - try this out!

Place 2 tablespoons of popcorn kernels and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil on an 18-inch square of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Seal the edges to form a loose pouch, leaving room for the kernels to pop. Tie a corner of the pouch to a stick with a piece of string. Shake over a fire until popped.

BEDTIME Gather blankets or sleeping bags and settle in for the night

inside your tent.

You can do it! When’s the last time you slept in a blanket tent!?TIP

Don’t forget...Post a pic from your family night, and have a chance to win!
