• Fascism – a political system headed by a dictator that calls for extreme nationalism and racism and no tolerance of opposition.

• Some points of Fascism The nation became great by expanding its territory and building military, Fascists were anticommunist

WHO? WHERE? • Who were some major leaders of Fascism?

Benito Mussolini leader of the National Fascist Party and Adolf Hitler of the National Socialist German Workers' Party

• Which countries where affected the most by Fascism? The countries directly affected by Fascism was Germany and Italy along with the countries that were taken over by Germany in World War II.

• Who started fascism? Benito Mussolini started the Fascist Party in 1919, then Adolf Hitler copied Mussolini’s form of government.

Where Fascism Originated

• Benito Mussolini was the one who founded the Fascist Party in Italy.

• The Fascist Party was named after the fasces which is a bundle of rods and among them an ax with projecting blade borne before ancient Roman magistrates

as a badge of authority.

Who did it affect?

• This is who it affected most• Italians

– Mussolini strictly enforced fascism – this affected the Italians because

they were forced to live by its rule

• Germans With Hitler under control of the German Government the citizens were severely affected. The minorities along with Jewish men and women were the victims of this Fascist Government with intent of having a superior Aryan race.

What other countries used Fascism?

• Italy- was the first to use fascism• Germany- the second country to

use• Other countries that used

Fascism were Japan, South Africa, and Argentina are a few of the notable ones. The government was not specifically called fascism.

The Nazis• The head Chancellor of the National Socialist German

Workers' Party was Adolf Hitler. • With the Great Depression in the early 1930’s the

German population supported the Nazi party, with the height of the Great Depression Hitler was named head chancellor and used propaganda to promote his cause.

• With Hitler in charge of the government he enforced strict laws that favored the Aryan race and discriminated other races.

• Wanted to create Volksgemeinschaft or “peoples community”.

• Upon Hitler's suicide the Nazi Party was banned and the leaders that were alive were charged with crimes.

Adolf Hitler

• born April 20, 1889

• died April 30, 1945

• Adolf Hitler was the chancellor of the National Socialist German Workers' Party

• Hitler abused the power that he had and ultimately led to World War II.

The Italian Fascist Party• The Fascist Party was led by

Mussolini who disliked the democratic countries ex. United States, and Great Britain.

• Founded in 1919• Some beliefs of Mussolini-

strong military, political and cultural liberalism, social hierarchies and a rule of elites.

• Mussolini portrayed Fascism as a defense against the Soviet Communists.

• The Italian Fascist Government military was called the Blackshirts.

• What was his position in the political system? He was nicknamed Il Duce or “The Leader”. He was dictator of Italy.

• Founded the Fascist Party in 1919
