GRADE LEVELS: Early Childhood three- year-olds through Grade 12. CURRICULUM: American college preparatory leading to American High School Diploma with opon to addionally pursue the IB Diploma in the last two years of High School. MISSION: CAISL is a student-centered educaonal community in which we challenge ourselves and each other to do our best and to make posive contribuons to our diverse and ever- changing world. PROFILE OF THE LEARNER: FACILITIES: Library Media Center with over 35,000 items, computers in all classrooms and wireless internet access throughout the campus, 1 computer per student in grades 2 through 5, one laptop per student in grades 6 through 12, fully equipped science laboratory classrooms, purpose-built art and music classrooms, state-of-the-art 450-seat theater, full- service cafeteria and snack bar, 1,400m 2 covered gymnasium, more than 10,000m 2 of exterior sports fields for basketball, soccer and other sports. STUDENTS: Total of 675 at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year, including 264 Portuguese (42%), 97 American (15%), 276 from 40 other naonalies. Accredited by Authorized by Supported by Operang under permanent license from FACULTY: In the 2016-2017 school year, there are 84 full-me faculty members, including 37 U.S. cizens, 31 host-country naonals, and 16 third-country naonals. ENGLISH: English is the language of instrucon. English for Speakers of other Languages (ESL) support is provided based on individual student needs for no addional fee. OTHER LANGUAGES: Portuguese Nave Language and Portuguese as a Foreign Language offered for all grade levels plus French and Spanish starng in Middle School. COLLEGE ADMISSIONS: In 2016 there were 55 graduang seniors. Of those who pursued college, 15% matriculated into American Universies, 28% into Brish Universies, 34% into Portuguese Universies, 15% into Dutch Universies, and 8% into universies elsewhere in the world. Two students of the graduang seniors took a gap year, one of them to pursue military service.
