Welcome to Term 3 A warm welcome to Term 3, especially to the new families that are joining The Bay family this week. We are looking forward to the term ahead, it should be very crea ve and exci ng. Highlights include the K‐6 Art Show, Dancesport Challenge, 4‐6 Dance Concert, Fathers Day BBQ and The Amazing Race P&C fundraiser. It’s going to be a wonderful term.
Staff Changes Mr McFadyen has decided to go on leave for the remainder of the year. Whilst we
wish him all the very best, he will leave a big hole in many of our pastoral care programs and our environmental educa on. We are currently working out staffing issues and will keep parents informed over the coming weeks. Mrs Jovanovska will take over the administra ve role of Learning and Support coordinator.
Ms Hozier will move from four days a week down to three days per week. She will also move from Science teaching to the Reading Recovery posi on held by Mr McFadyen. This will mean Ms Hozier will work closely with K‐2 students in the area of reading over the next six months. Science teaching will con nue, with new staff currently being sourced to take on this role.
Missy has informed the school that she can no longer work as our Aboriginal SLSO. This is a great loss to the school, however we are inves ga ng other ways of suppor ng our 23 deadly aboriginal students.
Miss Hatziantoniou, as many of you would be aware, is ge ng married next weekend. We wish her and Con all the very best. Miss Hatziantoniou finishes on KP this Friday and will not return un l Term 4. Mr Gormley will teach KP for the remainder of this term. Ms DeBartolo will be the relieving Assistant Principal for Kindergarten in Miss Hatziantoniou’s absence.
New Library As indicated last term, a number of our classrooms were recarpeted over the holidays. As well, our library has had a makeover. I encourage all parents to come up and look at the new learning spaces created, we are very proud of this investment in our Library.
Enjoy your week.

Thanks also to Rose who came along with us for the day, it was fantas c for all our staff to work together.

1A We have Growth Mindsets in 1A!
A er a long, relaxing holiday, this week 1A have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the importance of growth and fixed mindsets. Even at such a young age, it is essen al for us to teach our students that their intelligence can be grown or developed with persis‐tence, effort, and a focus on learning. When students believe that dedica on and hard work can change their performance in school, they grow to become resilient, successful students. You may have heard comments like “I made a mistake” or “I can’t do maths”, this is having a fixed mindset. In 1A, we have really focused on how we can change our words to change our mindset from fixed to growth. For example, “mistakes help me learn” or “I can always improve in maths if I keep trying”. We looked at the idea that ‘the brain is like a muscle’ it only gets stronger when you embrace challenges. As you can see below, we coloured half of our brains using several colours to resemble our growth mindset and we hope to apply our new knowledge to all classroom ac vi es and tasks as the year progresses. (Miss Aravopoulos)
Here are few highlights from Term 2. From
Mindfulness, to the Garden Pro-ject, our Artist in Residence program and Museum in a Box, we were
exhausted and ready for a well-deserved break!
