1 About This Document
This document describes the features that are available in SAP Cloud Platform.
The availability of some of them may depend on your license agreement with SAP. To illustrate integration with other SAP offerings, the product documentation on the SAP Help Portal might include references to features that aren’t included with SAP Cloud Platform. Features that are not included in this feature scope description might require a separate license.

2 Introduction
SAP Cloud Platform is an open platform as a service for developing and running business applications in a fully-provisioned environment.
Using a set of end-to-end services, capabilities, APIs, and tools, you can build new cloud applications as well as extend and integrate applications in the cloud. You can also use SAP Cloud Platform to extend and integrate with existing on-premise systems (hybrid scenarios) or other cloud products.
Read this document for a high-level summary of the features and capabilities available for SAP Cloud Platform,

Find out about the capabilities that SAP Cloud Platform provides for cloud application development and lifecycle management. Each capability is represented by a set of features, together with the corresponding price list item.
The features are described in more detail in the linked feature scope descriptions.
This document does not include any information about the packages available for SAP Cloud Platform. For more information, see https://cloudplatform.sap.com/pricing.html .
SAP Cloud Platform comes with a set of tools that enable you to develop cloud applications and administrate your accounts, applications, databases, services, and other components. The table shows an overview of the most important tools:
Tool Description
Developer Tools Developers can use web-based, Eclipse IDE-based, or console command tools for application development and testing.
Based on the chosen development technologies, additional technology- or service-specific tools are available, including software development kit (SDK for the Neo environment), REST APIs, visual modeling tools, analytics, and others.
Administration UI The central web-based administration user interface for SAP Cloud Platform provides access to a number of functions for management, configuration, deployment, and operation tasks for accounts, applications, databases, services, and other components:

Provides in-memory and relational data persistence for applications:

3.3 Security
SAP Cloud Platform provides secure cloud-based access to the business processes, applications, and data. It enables you to integrate security features in cloud applications and services running on the cloud platform, including identity management, single sign-on using an SAML 2.0 identity provider, on-premise user store, and self-services such as registration and password reset.

In the Cloud Foundry environment, various programming models are available with varying levels of support.
Buildpacks provide framework and runtime support for cloud applications running on SAP Cloud Platform.
● Cloud Foundry includes a set of system buildpacks for common languages and frameworks: Binary, Go, Java, .NET Core, Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, Staticfile.System buildpacks are community-created and with community support. In addition, you can use custom buildpack, for example, a community buildpack that is not part of the system buildpacks or create your own buildpack or simply refer to another version of a system buildpack.
● For languages or frameworks that the Cloud Foundry system buildpacks do not support, you can write your own buildback, or use the unsupported, community-created buildpacks.
● The SAP-Java buildpack is provided by SAP and available with enterprise support.

Infrastructures SAP Cloud Platform runs on several underlying infrastructure as a service technologies, including SAP data centers and data centers owned by other infrastructure providers, for example Amazon Web Services.
Environments SAP Cloud Platform offers the Cloud Foundry and the Neo development environments:
● Cloud Foundry is available for 12-factor- and microservice-based applications and services and applications using non-Java runtimes, IoT, and machine learning scenarios, and multiple other runtimes. SAP HANA applications developed for on-premise can run on Cloud Foundry.

Free trial use The free trial of SAP Cloud Platform is available for testing and exploring:

You are not allowed to use productively the applications deployed using the free trial access.
Restrictions
● If your contract allows EU-Access, you are not allowed to use the Cloud Foundry environment. Operations support for applications running in EU regions can also only be performed by operators located in the EU.
● (Neo environment only) Upload limit: an application deployed on SAP Cloud Platform can be up to 1.5 GB. If the application is packaged as a WAR file, the size of the unzipped content is taken into account.

NoteFurther restrictions may apply when using the product on an infrastructure hosted by a third-party provider.
