Why is the solubility of yourfertilizers so important?Solubility is a sign of the quality and purity of
the materials used in creating fertilizer, helping
to ensure even distribution within your crops.
If a fertilizer is not completely soluble, material
may settle at the bottom of your tank and
create an imbalance of nutrients for your
plants. Since all of Plant Products fertilizers
stay dissolved, no deposits are left in tanks or
irrigation lines, providing you with versatility
in terms of the feeding program you use. We
at Plant Products Co. Ltd. pride ourselves
on supplying you with completely solublefertilizers, including our new line of fertilizer
Solutions.

Acid Fertilizer 21-7-7This formula has a very high potential acidity. If used in a
continuous feeding program, the pH should be monitored
to ensure that it does not go below the desired level. It is
recommended for crops such as Azaleas, Rhododendrons and
many evergreens requiring acid soil conditions. When irrigation
water has a high pH 21-7-7 will help to overcome the effect of
the bicarbonate ions in the media and gradually reduce the pH
for better growth of bedding plants, pot crops, cut flowers, and
nursery stock in containers and in the field.

trogen, while still maintaining the optimal levels of the other plant
nutrients. Over 58% of the nitrogen is in the nitrate form. It has a
very low potential acidity, exhibiting minimal acidifying tendencies
in the soil. It is recommended when soil levels or tissue samples
show low potassium levels or when plants are setting bud, as wellas during maturation and blooming.

High Phosphate 15-30-15Plant-Prod High Phosphate Fertilizer is ideal for Hydrangeas
since the high phosphorus content ties up excess aluminum in
the soil which causes a strong pink colouration in the blooms.
Acid-loving plants such as African Violets respond well to this
formulation due to its high potential acidity. Use during the early
stages of crop growth, when many greenhouse crops requireextra phosphorus, particularly tomatoes and cucumbers grown in
soil. 15-30-15 can be used to remedy phosphorus deficient soils.

High Potash 20-5-30This formula is recommended for summer feeding of roses,
geraniums and other ornamentals. Greenhouse tomatoes and
cucumbers grown in soil respond well to this formula when used
alone or in combination with potassium nitrate.
This high potassium fertilizer is ideal for use when plants are
maturing and blooming. It allows the plants to establish heavier,thick-walled cells which results in good keeping qualities. Since
the potential acidity is very low, this fertilizer will exhibit minimal
acidifying activity in the soil. It is particularly useful where a
change in soil pH is undesirable.

Plant-Prod vs Mixing your ownFertilizer accounts for 1% to 3% of the cost of producing a plant. Simple mistakes such as
miscalculation, placing a decimal in the wrong place or an error in weighing out nutrientscould cause the loss of an entire crop. Using low quality raw materials which are not
completely soluble will reduce the availability of nutrients and could clog injectors. If the
nutrient does not dissolve into solution, the plant cannot utilize it. You may think you are
applying 200ppm but because some of the nutrients are insoluble, you may actually be
applying much less. A premixed soluble fertilizer such as Plant-Prod is economical.
Plant-Prod is scientifically blended with the highest quality materials. Chances for errors
are eliminated.

ConductivityTotal soluble salts is a measure, in the form of electrical conductivity, of the amount of fertilizer in solution.
Most nutrients or other elements that are soluble will contribute to the conductivity of the solution. The electrical conductivity (EC)
increases as the fertilizer concentration is increased.
Electrical conductivity is measured in mhos. The conductivity of fertilizer solutions is sufficiently small that
it is measured in terms of millimhos (mmhos, one one-thousandth of a mho) or micromhos (mhos, one
one-millionth of a mho). Conductivity meters measure in either mmhos or mhos. Since most meters used byour growers are calibrated in mmhos, the data given here on our fertilizers uses the same measurement.
The following table can be used to measure the accuracy of fertilizer injector systems by following these steps:
(1) Take a conductivity reading of clear irrigation water.
(2) Take a conductivity reading of final fertilizer solution.
(3) Subtract the conductivity reading value of clear water from the conductivity reading of fertilizer solution.
(4) Compare the answer found in 3 to the corresponding value in the table in order to find the concentration of fertilizer.
Example: Conductivity of clear irrigation water is 0.60 mmhos.
Conductivity of the final fertilizer solution using 20-20-20 is 2.85 mmhos.
The conductivity due to the fertilizer is only 2.85 mmhos - 0.60 mmhos = 2.25 mmhos.
For 20-20-20, a conductivity reading of 2.25 mmhos corresponds to a feeding rate of 550 ppm of Nitrogen (N).
Note: The values on this chart were obtained under laboratory conditions using distilled water and a Plant Products conductivity meter. The values obtained by the grower under field conditions could therefore vary slightly (+/-10%) from the values listed here.

in the soil can create deficiencies in the soil, however,
having excesses of certain nutrients can also induce
deficiencies of others as the chart indicates.

Media Premix
Pre-Mix vs mixing your own:If you are mixing your own media, you know how difficult it can be
to get a small amount of an input mixed thoroughly into the entire
batch. It is even more difficult with a continuous system where
peatmoss, perlite, bark and other components are being mixed
and then limestone and other nutritional products are being fed
into the mix.
Plant Products Co. Ltd. can eliminate the inaccuracy by providing
a ready-made or custom premix for your media. One hopper can
be dedicated to this ingredient, rather than several and the mix of
ingredients will be perfect and flowable every time.

This chart shows the relative availabilities of most plant nutrients at various pH levels.
The width of each horizontal bar indicates maximum availability at the widest point and diminishing availability as the
bar narrows.
Applying nutrients in the proper balance is essential for proper plant nutrition, but maintaining the pH of the soil
mix so that these nutrients are available for uptake is just as crucial.
From these charts it can be seen that an optimum pH in soil mixes is around 6.5 - 7.5, whereas the optimum
for soilless mixes falls in the 5.5 6.5 range.
The effect of pH on availability of plant nutrients
PPM ExplanationOften in designing fertilization programs, the term ppm appears. Simply, this means Part Per Million.
One ppm of a certain nutrient, such as nitrogen, means that the solution contains 1 part of nitrogen
in 1,000,000 parts of water by weight. There is an easy formula which can be used
to determine the ppm of a solution.
grams of fertilizer product x grade of fertilizer x 10 = ppm
It works like this: Plant-Prod 20-20-20 contains 20% N. To find the ppm of nitrogen in a solution
containing 1g of Plant-Prod 20-20-20 in 100 litres of water, the equation is:
1 (g of product) x 20 (grade of fertilizer) x 10 = 2 ppm
One gram of Plant-Prod 20-20-20 in 100 litres of water has 2 parts per million of nitrogen in the
solution. To determine the number of grams required to make up a 200 ppm solution of nitrogen with
Plant-Prod 20-20-20 fertilizer in 100 litres of solution, simply divide 200 by 2. Your answer is 100 g.

Plant-Prod Chelated Micronutrient MixChelated Micronutrient Mix is a water soluble micronutrient mix
which can be used as a supplement where deficiencies exist
for crops grown in soil or in a regular feeding program for crops
grown in artificial and soilless media.
General Applications
1. Regular Feeding Program for Soilless Mixes or Substrates:
Use 3 g/100 L. For injector systems this can be maintained by
using 6 g/L for a 1:200 injector or 3 g/L for a 1:100 injector ratio.
For Agriculture Crops and Soil Grown Greenhouse Crops: Apply
when soil test shows low levels of trace elements.
2. To Correct Deficiencies: The rate and frequency of application
should be based on results from soil and plant tissue analyses.
Foliar Spray: Apply 35 g/100 L covering surface lightly. Make oneor two applications as necessary.
Soil Application: Always apply trace elements to moist soil. Use
120 g/100 m2 in 450 L of water.

Nutricote is the worlds most consistent controlled release technology. Nutricotes coating is a unique and pliable resin that allows
for very predictable release rates. Based primarily on temperature, the release rate of a specific coating Type (i.e Type 180) is highly
predictable. For example at a constant temperature of 25C (77F), Type 180 coating will release 80% of its nitrogen evenly over a 180
day period. Warmer temperatures will shorten release times and cooler temperatures will lengthen the release times. Moisture, pH,
soil type or microbial activity do not significantly affect Nutricote technology.
Unique Nutricote Qualities True control of nutrient release based on temperature
Optimum fertilizer levels are maintained since leaching of nutrients is minimized
Highest degree of crop safety
Flexibility of release periods from 40 to 360 days at 25C
Resin coating is very smooth and uniform with no breaks or cracked material which would allow uncontrolled release of nutrients
Thermoplastic coating wont break with blending or freezing Uniform particle size allows easier and precise mechanical distribution
Only the highest quality N, P, and K
High nitrate nitrogen content
Nutricote Formulations and TypesNutricote Controlled Release Fertilizers are available in four analyses. Each analysis has a range of release periods designated by
Type.
Analyses available:
