The parade route features sidewalks along the whole route, but snagging a spot to set up a chair or stand and watch the parade near the judge’s stand (by Panda Express) will allow you to see groups perform in front of the judges and then easily walk over to the festival grounds when the parade ends.

The festival parade route begins at the Real Life Church Campus at 26201 180th Ave SE. Parade staging begins at 9 a.m. and that means road closures will begin around 9:30 a.m. and will last up until 1 p.m.

The parade will enter onto 180th Ave SE and head south toward 272nd/Kent Kangley. It will turn right (or west) onto Kent Kangley and continue west to SE 169th Place SE where it will turn right (or north) and will dissipate. The new parade route is just over one mile long and the judging stand will be located on 272nd/Kent Kangley near Panda Express and Starbucks.

There will be multiple road closures and detours in Covington during the parade. While 272nd/Kent Kangley westbound will be closed between 180th/Wax Road and 168th Place SE, the eastbound lanes will remain open at all times. Please obey all road closure and detour signs.

FUN FOR KIDSKick off the festival by taking the kids out to the

main road (272nd) to watch the parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Stake out a spot near Panda Express where the parade judging stand will be located to hear announcements and see performances by some of the dozens of entries. Many hand out fun giveaways as they walk by, too!

After the parade, for just $5, kids can speed down the giant slide, try the “Wipeout” style inflatable, and run through the inflatable obstacle course as many times as they want! Kids of all ages can win prizes by playing skee ball, attempting football throws, or taking a stab at archery and attempting to knock down balls with safe arrows for just $1 per ticket. And kids can pick out some cool designs from our face painter for $3-$6, too.

At 2 p.m., head up to the mainstage to enter the popular Watermelon Eating Contest. Contestants will be called up by age group and winners will get prizes like a punch card for Discovery Playtown, gift cards, and more! Don’t forget to catch Magician Jeff Evans perform just before the watermelon eating contest and Son of Reptile Man right after!

REPTILES ANDANIMALS GALORE

Almost no one can resist the chance to hold cool animals or touch a reptile. You can do both during the festival weekend! We would like to welcome Son of Reptile Man Isaac Peterson on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. The reptile shows are known for letting you get up close and personal with exotic reptiles. The reptiles are brought to the show from the Reptile Zoo located in Monroe, which is open to the public 365 days a year. You’ll learn about the importance of animals in the balance of nature and you’ll get a “hands-on” experience, too!

All day on Sunday you can experience the Animal Encounters Mobile Petting Zoo! The animals vary from event to event, but you might get a chance to see and pet a wallaby, sheep, Patagonian mara, mini pig, African pygmy goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, bantam chickens, and more. Both the Reptile Show and Petting Zoo are FREE!
