When Iwasabout thirteenI startedwritinggraf ti.Backthen,a t leas t inmygroupoff r iends ,mos tofusgot in to i t . My very rsttag was Sync.Butit turned outthere was already someone who wrote Sync fromthe TCFcrew in the valley nottoo farfrom me.Af -te ra yearor two I jus t sor tofgot the name Bles .Notexactly sure how itfound me orme itbutwehave been togethereversince.

I’d say my style is kind ofbetween oldertradi -tional graf ti and the really good, crazy stuffthatotherguys are doing.People like Revok,Krush,Saber,Zes,an d Aloy—to me these guys look likethey have the future ofgraff.Ithink everyone inAWR would describe my style as meatand pota -toes,in a good way though.Good meatand po -tatoes.

Igotinto tattoos really early on.When Iwas ateenagerIcould n’twaitto gettattooed,so as soonas Iturned eighteen Istarted getting tattoos.VisionfromVenice gave me some good people in the BayArea to gettattooed by so that’s whatIdid. Ihadsuch a greattime and rightfrom the startIknewthat’s whatIneeded to be doing.

Ibegan tattooing towards the end of1996. Ihad a good friend who had recently started work-ing with AWR (Paco Excel),and he an d his part -nerat the time (Adrian Lee)offered to teach me.One ofthe really big challenges was thatmostof

whatIdrew was justlettering;in tattooing you haveto learn how to draw everything. Also no matterhow good you are atgraf ti you have to startfromscratch in tattooing all overagain. No matterwhat, that’s it.You suck all overagain.

Forme there are a few similarities betweengraf ti and tattooing butIthink my background asa writerhelps me bestwith things like le ttering andfonts.Thattype of stuff, along with coloring andputting togethercolorschemes, comes very natu-rally fromall the graf ti.Aside fromthatI don’tthinkthere are too many similaritiesbetween them.

These days there are a lotofpeo ple who in-spire mytattoos. Some ofthe main ones are thepeople Ihave become friends with orworkedwith overthe years.I have had the good fortuneofworking with some amazing people all over theworld and theyhave all helped my tattooing a lot.Inthe beginning, when I rststarted tattooing orevenbefore Istarted,it was mostly all the people in theleftpage:Dragon with blossoms back piece /2009
