Generic cabling

Draka Linkki is Draka’s premises cabling solution for a highly reliable open cabling system.

Draka’s wide cable range covers products suitable for premises communication networks. As the generic cabling application standards have been revised, these cables and other related compo-nents have been integrated into the concept of Draka Linkki.

Draka Linkki is an open cabling system that complies with the European standard on generic cabling. The cabling system is suitable for telephone networks including broadband access interfaces, local area networks and control and building automation applications. In terms of copper cables, we offer the UC (Universal Cable) series comprising generic cables in categories 5, 6 and 7, and a Supercat cable for outdoor applications.

For longer distances and connections between buildings, especially when fast connections are needed, we recommend the use of fibre optic cables. The multimode fibre cable categories listed in the cabling standards are OM1, OM2 and OM3. The corresponding categories for single-mode fibre cables are OS1 and OS2. We offer products in all these fibre classes.

You can choose from our wide product range: the FZOMSU-SD, a generic premises cable suitable for indoor/outdoor use, and the FTMS for hori-zontal cabling. These cables can be supplied with different category fibres. Backbone cables can be terminated in an ORP 260 cross-connection distribution panel in building and floor distributors.

Joint closures

Type Universal joint closure XOK 10...

Application The universal joint closure XOK 10... is designed to provide pressure-tight environmental protection for optical fibres and optical fibre splices regardless of the cable design. Application range from aerial to buried installations.

As the closure is made of acid-proof stainless steel and it is watertight, it can be installed in harsh and corrosive environments without any additional protection. The closure is sealed with reopenable chloroprene rubber gasket.

The closure has anchoring points for strength members and facilities for the earthing of metallic elements. The splice organizer trays offer holders for splices and sufficient room for spare fibres. The closure is easily assembled and re-entered.

The closure is available in four basic versions with two, three or four cable entrances. Special branch joint closures and extension collars for more cable outlets are also available.

Basic assemblies of the XOK10... joint closures

The closure kit contains all the hardware needed for the assembly and mounting of unarmoured cables, including heat-shrinkable tubes, earthing wires etc. The kits for closures with 3 or 4 cables inlets also include plugging material for tubes that may be reserved for future use. Other accessories must be ordered separately.

Features The PK-300 termination cabinet is designed for the termination and distribution of various types of fibre optic cables to a wall-mountable and dust-proof termination.

Patch panel divides the box into splicing and cross-connection sections. Splicing section protected with a separate door.

Cross-Connection cabinet ORP-6000

ORP-6000 cross-connection cabinet is designed for outdoor use installed into a standard telephone streetcabinet. Inside the street cabinet as a double-wall construction it provides environmental and mechanical protection for optical fibre splices and connectors.

Features In outdoor use OP-6000 cabinet is installed inside of a standard telephone cabinet. Dustproof construction. Passive cooling system provided by the air ventilator on the bottom of cabinet.

Entrance for 12 cables. Holder for 10 KT-1424/48 splice trays. Accommodates up to 5 ORP-4110 patch panels, each for max 24 SC-D or FC*D connector adaptors. The front panel can be drawn out and locked to a downward position for termination and for cleaning the conncetors inside of the panel.

FIBSET of PRIMASET pigtail sets are used between the splice trays and patch panels.

Type FZOMSU-SD KIT FZOMSU-SD TERM FTMS-KIT

Description The FZOMSU-SD indoor/outdoor cable or FTMS indoor cables can be supplied to lengths specified by the customer and terminated with connectors. This enables them to be easily and quickly installed without special equipment or tools.

Features Cable can be terminated at one or both ends with pigtails. Max. number of fibres 48 pcs.

The available connector types SC, FC or ST. Cables are delivered in a coil up 50 m.

The connectorized cable end is protected with a small cardboard protector box for transportation and installation.

Up to 200 m cables are delivered on a disposable cardboard reel, Ø 700 mm x 200 mm. The longer lengths up to 2000 m are delivered on a disposable wooden reel, Ø 1100 mm x 542 mm.

For transportation and installation the connectorized cable ends are protected with a flexible protection tube, which also works as a pulling head.

The connectorized FZOMSU-SD and FTMS cables can also be delivered as pre-terminated to ORP distribution panels. Available up to 48 fibres.

The connectors fullfil IEC-874 requirements.

Launch fibre package

Launch fibres are used in OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectomer) measurements for eliminating effect of the dead zone on the test results. For improved handling of the launch fibre in the field, the fibre is packed in a small, rugged aluminium case, in which the connectorized fibre ends are also protected with a hinged cover.
