The major species of fauna in the Finger Lakes Forest ecosystem are mostly consisted of Raptors( owls and birds)

Strix Varia) Buteo Lagopus) (Buteo Platypterus) (Accipter Striatus)

Northern HarrierNorthern Harrier (Circus Cyaneus) This raptor favors opem grasslands and marshes. It hunts by flying slowly low above ground levelsearching for rodents.

Red Shouldered HawkRed Shouldered Hawk (Buteo Lineatus) The Red Shouldered Hawkis the common forest dwelling hawk of the east.It also favors woodlands near water.

Here are some photos and descriptions of the flora species in the Finger Lakes Forest ecosystem.

Common buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica), in addition to being nasty to walk through, provides wildlife food of poor nutritional quality.

Joe pye weedJoe-pye weed (Eupatorium maculatum) is one of the many native plants that can work well in moist soils in a local landscape

web for this ecosystem. The fauna and flora in the ecosystem are interdependent. Most of the ecosystem is composed of consumers and carnivores that hunt, like the Northern harrier.
