Programme Overview:

This career talk brings together founders of Fintech companies and senior professionals from the “traditional” banking industry to discuss the disruptive impact of Fintech on the future of the investment management industry and on our careers. Would Financial Advisors be replaced by Robo Advisors? What is the digital strategy of incumbent financial institutions? Can Banks collaborate with Fintech companies? What are the skill sets needed by finance professionals to navigate this new and evolving landscape?

Speaker Profile: Roy Teo, Director & Head, Technology Innovation Lab, Fintech & Innovation Group, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)

Roy Teo heads the Technology Innovation Lab at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He leads the team that scans the horizon for cutting-edge technologies with potential application to the financial industry and works with the industry and relevant parties to test-bed innovative new solutions. The team’s efforts are focused on developing platforms, capabilities, tools and innovative solutions to grow Singapore’s financial sector and to foster a conducive environment for innovation to flourish.

Prior to this, Roy was the head of Technology Risk Supervision Division. Having been a Regulator, an IT Auditor and an IT Specialist, Roy has acquired more than 17 years of extensive experience in technology risk management, technology audit and IT implementations in multiple regions/countries. He graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Computer Science. Roy is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Speaker Profile: Frank Troise, Managing Director, Head of Digital Distribution & Communication (Asia)

Frank Troise is one of Southeast Asia’s leading voices and practitioners on FinTech. Frank is a Managing Director at Leonteq Securities Singapore Pte. Ltd. (SIX: LEON) responsible for all digital distribution and communications in Asia. Mr. Troise has over twenty years of experience managing multi-billion dollar portfolios for corporations, endowments, foundations, and high net worth individuals. Mr. Troise’s research, work op-eds, and career have been published in The Economist, Institutional Investor, The Wall Street Journal, Barrons, The Sacramento Bee, The Pacific Coast Business Times, Noozhawk, Derivatives Weekly, Pension & Investments, and Investment News. Asian Investment Research and Analysis.

Raghav believes wholeheartedly in the power of technology to solve complex problems. He co-founded Smartkarma with a vision to bring simplicity, efficiency and transparency to the world of investing. As CEO, Raghav drives product strategy, technology development and a relentless pursuit of perfection in every aspect of the company’s operations. Over his career, Raghav has worked in various positions of leadership across major financial institutions and also as an entrepreneur. Prior to co-founding Smartkarma, Raghav was a Managing Director at Religare Capital Markets from 2010 to 2014. He joined Religare upon the successful exit of Aviate Global (Asia), where he was a Founding Partner. From 2006 to 2009, Raghav was Vice President of Regional Equities Sales at Citigroup, where he grew and managed several large relationships. Outside of his passion for technology, Raghav brings to Smartkarma his love for investing. He was ranked as Asia’s Number 1 investment idea generator from 2011 to 2013, based on the performance analysis of over a million top investment ideas. Running Mesitis Capital since Aug 2013. Have been in a front office trading floor role from Aug 1993 till Mar 2013. Have

extensive cross asset-class, cross functional and cross geography experience. Worked across various functions including

Trading (with stints in Client Coverage and Structuring as well) and was based in major financial centres including

Singapore, Hong Kong, New York and Mumbai. Have traded financial products in 13 countries.

Speaker Profile: Janet Young, Managing Director, Head Group Channels and Digitalisation, United Overseas Bank Ltd

As part of the senior leadership team under UOB Group CEO, Janet spearheads digitalization initiatives to build customer

engagement and connectivity across all delivery channels to meet UOB Group’s vision to be a premier regional bank in Asia

Pacific. Working with Business and Technology partners, she also leads the transformation of banking in the digital age, focused

on business analytics for customer insights, customer experience, and embracing Innovation to drive better outcomes for the

Bank and its Customers.

Prior to joining to UOB, Janet is International Business Head for multinational corporations (MNCs) that are subsidiaries of Bank

of America Merrill Lynch’s commercial bank clients from the US, a strategic growth area for the Bank. She has responsibility

over Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.

She has over 25 years of banking and corporate experience in the region. Prior to joining Bank of America, she has led

Marketing, e-Business, and Commercial Banking for HSBC Singapore. Before that, she was the China Treasury Director (based

in Shanghai) and Asia Pacific Finance & Treasury Director for Philips Electronics.

She currently sits on the Boards of IDA, Accuron Technologies, InnoVen,(Venture Debt JV between Temasek and UOB)

FinLab,(Innovation Fintech accelerator JV between UOB and Infocomm Investment Pte Ltd), and serves on the Growth

Committee of Spring Singapore, SAP APJ Business Advisory Council, IDA and Spring Singapore are government statutory boards

that promote “entrepreneurship, enterprise development, innovation and productivity, IT, info-communication development,

trade, investments in and outside Singapore”. She also contributes to the society as member of Committee of Future Economy

(sub-committee for Future Corporate Capability & Innovation - SMEs), Singapore and Nanyang Business School, MBA Advisory

Council.

Speaker Profile: Maggie Yung, Director, Digital Product Development, APAC & EMEA Citi NA

Maggie is currently leading the Digital Product & Channel Development for Citi’s APAC & EMEA region. Driven, curious and

forward thinking leader with more than 15 years’ experience in driving digital business, mobile innovation, branding and

marketing. She comes with a solid and proven track record over years including the internet banking development in 1999,

launch of the first iPhone mobile banking in 2008, introduction of the Transit Branch in HK in 2009, pilot the NFC mobile

wallet with Hutchison Telecom, and product development of Citi Apple Watch App in 2015 and recently she brought 15

markets live with Citi Mobile. Maggie is never settled with where and how she is and always look for challenges and new way

of doing things.

Prior to joining Citibank, Maggie was Head of Marketing in Zurich Insurance Group Hong Kong. Before that role, she held

senior positions in various companies including American Express International, DDB Needham, and Standard Chartered

Bank.

Maggie has a Bachelor Degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Master Degree of Arts, Information Technology from

Macquarie University.

Speaker Profile: Gary Lai , Managing Director, Charterhouse Partnership - Singapore

Gary joined Charterhouse in 2011, with the remit to oversee day-to-day operations and to grow the business within

Southeast Asia.

After graduating from the University of Manchester with an honours degree in Finance, Gary began his career in Citibank

within its Technology and Operations division. He later moved to the Singapore Exchange (SGX) as a Senior Associate

within its Strategy and Business Development division. There, he was responsible for corporate finance and alliance

strategies, as well as the structuring of derivatives products. Amongst his achievements at SGX, Gary played a key role

in terms of formulating policies for the Securities and Futures Regulation in relation to clearing facilities.

Gary subsequently joined a global executive search firm, as a banking consultant. There, he was instrumental in starting

up a dedicated Front Office Financial Services division. He was quickly given responsibility to also manage the HR

division, and spent a one-year stint in Shanghai where he led both the Financial Services and Commerce Finance

practices.

Gary is an avid sports person and enjoys playing football and all forms of racket games. He also loves travelling with his

family, and aims to visit a different country every year. Gary is a dedicated husband and father.
