2014 Sun Bowl Marshal:

• Ft. Bliss – State of the Military: August 6

As a community partner with our military, FirstLight FCU alsohas a strong presence and relationship with Fort Bliss.

FirstLight FCU has been the title sponsor of the El Paso GreaterChamber of Commerce’s State of the Military Address for thepast five years. On August 6, Major General Stephen Twitty gavethe annual address highlighting the major achievement of FortBliss from the past year. We are proud of our history with themilitary and the support we give to events like these at Fort Bliss.

• Las Cruces – Salsa Fest: August 24

Salsa Fest is an event held annually to raise funds for the LasCruces Downtown Partnership, an organization that is in the

process of revitalizing and bringing economic development andemployment to the heart of the Las Cruces area. Salsa Festbrings over 5,000 attendees from around the community to tastesalsa from different vendors and walk-through the historicdistrict. FirstLight FCU has helped support this event from itsstart. This year we had over 50 employees from both the LasCruces and El Paso area volunteer at this event. Our employeeshelped in every aspect of the event, from handling money, toassisting the Salsa Makers that were competing for awards.FirstLight FCU had an amazing workforce who withstood theblazing heat with smiles and eagerness to help.

• El Paso – Battle of I-10

UTEP Athletics and FirstLight FCU have joined forces for thisyear's rivalry series between the Miners and the NM State

Aggies. FirstLight FCU is the official sponsor for the "Battle of I-

10" and will have its name attached to every sport pitting the twoteams together in 2014-15. This year's UTEP-NMSU football gamewas a "White Out" and all fans were encouraged to wear whiteto the game. Fans received their FREE White Out or Battle of I-10t-shirt by opening a checking account at any FirstLight FCUlocation in El Paso in the weeks prior to the big game.

Karl Murphy, President and CEO of FirstLight FCU, takes pride inleading an organization that puts its members and the communityfirst. "FirstLight Federal Credit Union constantly gives back to theEl Paso, Fort Bliss and Las Cruces communities in many ways,"said Karl Murphy. "This year, we are extremely excited to partnerwith UTEP in support of their students, faculty and staff."

of our computer systems which will help bringFirstLight Federal Credit Union to new levelsof quality and service. Our previous systemwas not one that could provide the servicethat we feel our members deserve and it wastime for a change. This has been a longprocess, but we are sure that you will greatlyenjoy the positive impact this conversion willhave on your member experience.

We appreciate your patience during ourconversion process. Even though we regret theinterruption of service, this was necessary inorder to ultimately provide the type of servicethat exceeds our members expectations. Our staff continues to learn and familiarizethemselves with the improved features thatthis new and robust system has to offer toprovide the quality service you expect. Rest assured that we will continue to workhard to assist you with any issues or questions that you might have during this post-conversion period.

Karl MurphyPresident/CEO

Carmen Renée Jimenez was born inEl Paso, Texas on September 15, 1976. As a native El Pasoan, she attended localelementary and high schools and then leftEl Paso, Texas to attend Texas A&MUniversity. Upon graduating with a degreein Bachelor of Environmental Design inMay 2000, she relocated to Phoenix,Arizona, to advance her studies inarchitectural and construction-relatedcourses at Arizona State University. In2004, she became a LEED AP. Sheparticipated and placed first in the U.S.Green Building Council’s First AnnualUSGBC Design Competition held in2003. In 2005, Renée and her familydecided to relocate back to El Pasowhere she accepted a position as projectmanager with MNK Architects, Inc. In2009, she was elevated to principal and in2012, elected President/CEO of MNKArchitects, Inc. Renée is actively involved

in many civic organizations includingGEPCC, USGBC (local and national),Rotary, and AIA.

Jaime Barceleau, a lifelong El Pasoresident, is a Board member, and hasserved on the FLFCU SupervisoryCommittee. Jaime, CEO of the Paso delNorte Children’s Development Center,earned a Master of Science degree at UTAustin. Jaime has over 31 years of militaryservice. He is a lay minister with hischurch, and has served on a number ofnon-profit, civic, and municipal boards.Jaime has earned many civic awardsincluding the 2011 NASW LifetimeAchievement Award for contributions to his community.

Sylvia Duarte was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from theUniversity of Texas at El Paso with a

Bachelor Degree of BusinessAdministration. She has been a publicservant for the past seven years with theCounty of El Paso. Sylvia began as theInternal Audit Supervisor at the CountyAuditor’s Office where she gainedvaluable experience about governmentalfiduciary responsibilities, which preparedher for her next endeavor as the ChiefDeputy for the District Clerk in 2011.Through her diverse experience in boththe private and public sector, she valuesand understands the importance ofaccountability and transparency in anorganization, especially when dealing withpublic funds. Sylvia is currently serving onthe Supervisory Committee withFirstLight Federal Credit Union. One ofher biggest and most rewardingaccomplishments is being a wife and amother of four children.
