• The quick disconnect assembly can be used at infrequently
used gates, avoiding need to run the sensor cable over or

• When closed the zone operates normally, when open the

I. If you have a site using FlexPS in a non-networked configuration (alarms are
being reported on the local relays)
- it is possible to replace one of the FlexPS units and associated sensor cables with
a FlexZone and FlexZone cable while still leaving all the other FlexPS units in
place.
- This could be beneficial to get the improved performance in the area receiving the
FlexZone unit, to get shorter zones in the area receiving the FlexZone, or to be
able to secure a sliding gate with the Wireless Gate Sensor
II. If you have a site using FlexPS in a networked configuration
- It is possible to replace one of the FlexPS units and associated sensor cable with a
FlexZone unit and FlexZone cable and install a communications card in the FlexZone
unit that matches the communications card used in the FlexPS units.
All the physical media options supported by FlexPS (RS-422, multi-mode fiber, and
single-mode fiber) are also supported by FlexZone – the same family of
communications cards is used)

FlexZone supports the same Silver Network protocol as FlexPS and the same
head-end interface devices can be used – the Silver Network Interface Unit (SNIU)
and mini-SNIU.
The Network Manager software would need to be updated to a version that
supports FlexZone
The security management software receiving the alarm data from the Network
Manager software may need to be updated for it to properly interpret the data
received for the FlexZone units.
if you have a FlexZone site in a network configuration then it is possible to add a
FlexPS processor to the configuration by doing the following:
- the FlexPS processor must be provided with its own sensor cable (either MEX or
Mark II)
- the FlexPS processor must be provided with a communications card
both the up-stream and down-stream FlexZone processors must be provided
with a communications card compatible with the card in the FlexPS unit
