The Element of Line

In Math: Line is defined as a mark that spans a distance between two points (or the path of a moving point)

In Art: most basic element of art design and can be used to show feelings, ideas and movement

5 Main Types

Vertical: move up and down

Horizontal: move from side to side

Diagonal: lean to one side

Zigzag: made by connecting diagonal lines

Curved: gracefully move and turn (can form spirals or circles)

Yarn paintings are created by applying wax to a surface and pressing yarn into the wax.

Artists would use anywhere between 10-50 colors and sometimes 50+

Use line to draw and simplify the object to its most basic form. Sketch 2-3 ideas.

How to do it.

Sketch final idea on the final piece of paper.

Think about the colors that make up the object(s)

Use at least 3 colors per object.

Using glue, begin applying glue to paper and wrapping yarn to create the object.
