Climate change is the defining crisis of our time, threatening to send

millions into poverty, destabilize nations, and irrevocably alter the environment.

To respond to the pressing problems we face today and the increasing challenges ahead, a new development paradigm must be put into action. This paradigm must reflect our fundamental humanity and common destiny. It must inspire a heightened level of cooperation and kinship that together is able to confront the enormous difficulties that lie ahead.

Planet Aid embraces this new development paradigm. A core principle that guides our effort is to make people the driving force of their own development. We believe that meaningful change is created through a genuinely collaborative process.

Planet Aid is engaged in mobilizing the poor, and helping create greater equality worldwide. We work from the ground level up, providing a sustainable learning environment for new generations of leaders, who will remain active in their communities and thus provide a foundation for true country ownership.

We are helping to combat climate change through our Farmers’ Clubs and textile recycling programs.

Farmers’ ClubsFarmers’ Clubs is a food security and income generating program that is working with smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

SUPPORTING EFFORTS to PLANT TEN MILLION TREES in AFRICA and ASIA

PLANETAID.ORG

Farmers’ Clubs mobilize producers and provide relevant training to help increase yields and income through use of sustainable practices. The program emphasizes use of crop diversification, soil and water conservation, and expanded irrigation using low-tech methods. A key element is the formation of self-sustaining clubs, cooperatives, and associations at the community level. Such organization allows farmers to exchange information and pool resources to bolster marketing and financing.

Textile Recycling

Our signature yellow bins have become a hallmark for clothes recycling in the United States, attracting and encouraging individuals to recycle clothes at convenient locations.

With more than 20,000 donation bins in parking lots and along storefronts across the nation, we gather and recycle more than 100 million pounds of clothing and shoes annually. The savings in greenhouse gas emissions from our operations is equivalent to taking 30,000 vehicles off the road.

Ten Million TreesThrough its partnership with local organizations in Africa And Asia, Planet Aid is supporting the planting of one million trees to help sequester carbon, control erosion, and provide food.
