A tradition of academic excellence. A vibrant community where you can build relationships that last a lifetime. A unique environment focused on educating girls. Learning through the lens of a broad global perspective. Building a foundation for lifelong success.

At all-girls Forest Ridge, your daughter will discover the enormous potential and power

that comes with being a girl. Forest Ridge graduates are confident young women who

are responsible, creative and compassionate global citizens on a local, national and

international level.

When your daughter makes her home on campus in our Residential Life community,

she will find herself in a warm, safe, homelike environment as a member of a diverse

community of sisters who come to Forest Ridge from as nearby as Bellevue and as far

away as Beijing. It will be a place where she can be herself, learn, grow and succeed.

she’ll be at home.

life on campus

There’s no place like home…but with its homelike atmosphere and

dedicated staff, the Forest Ridge Residential Life House comes close.

at forest RidgeImagine living in a home with a view of snowcapped mountains, deep blue lakes, lush trees and shrubs with the skyline of the vibrant city of Seattle just beyond. Your daughter’s new home sits atop Somerset Hill, where occasional campus visitors include deer, rabbits and eagles. She will share the view with 26 other housemates and a caring staff that is on duty, 24/7. Our staff provides a homelike atmosphere that includes chauffeuring students to activities and events around the community, as well as offering homework help and guidance in learning life skills.

Each bedroom is comfortable, cheerful and quiet. The perfect place to study or visit with friends. The living room and kitchen are lively, busy places to eat, play games, watch TV or listen to music, sing karaoke or just sit and relax, chatting with friends and the resident assistants.

The Residential Life home has the services of a personal chef Monday through Friday where your daughter will dine in the company of her dorm sisters. In addition to preparing healthy, wholesome meals – centered on familiar foods for all students – our resident staff and Chef also love to spend time teaching the girls how to cook and bake. The Residential Life House meals are planned with the same philosophy used by our Executive Chef in the community dining room: to serve the highest quality fresh, local, chef-prepared, whole organic foods at every opportunity.

The view is amazing…and so is the food.

academicsIt’s just a short walk from the Residential Life house to the high school classrooms on the Forest Ridge campus. Yet the entire world is your classroom when you participate in global service learning and travel, including our Peace and Reconciliation (Israel and the West Bank), Resources and Sustainability (Arctic Circle) and Global Health (Dominican Republic) curriculum.

Freshmen and sophomores follow a core program which includes religious studies, English, history, science, mathematics, an international language, physical education, and fine arts. Juniors and seniors choose from the International Baccalaureate Programme, the nationally renowned Global Seminar Program (which includes coursework and credits from Seattle University) or a combination of the two.

During school vacations, we offer an annual, custom college tour designed by the residents who are interested in participating. The girls have a chance to visit American colleges and universities around the country, from small, private colleges to Ivy League universities.

Once your daughter makes a list of the colleges in which she is interested, our individualized college counseling program will assist her with the application process to the schools of her choice.

at forest Ridge, your daughter will engage in a variety of dorm weekend activities, such as attending

professional sporting events or engaging in cultural activities, private music or art lessons, or community service

at local agencies. There are also trips to Portland, Oregon, or Disneyland. She can take a walk on the beach

or spend a day at University of Washington campus. The girls make trips to the local market to buy snacks or

share Dim Sum lunch at a favorite place in Bellevue. They can spend a weekend enjoying world-class shopping

in Bellevue or Seattle, or indulging their inner tourist by exploring Seattle Center, the Space Needle, Pike Place

Market, or Puget Sound by ferry. Other activities planned for this year are: an overnight camping trip, rock

climbing, etiquette classes, a dinner/speaker series, leadership programs, a talent show, and numerous holiday

parties…even a visit to the beautiful Festival of Lights at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens.

learning and growingat forest Ridge, we know it’s a big step to attend high school far away from home. Over time, your

daughter will learn to depend on herself under the careful guidance of our Residential Life staff. She

will learn to wash her own clothes and keep her dorm room tidy (yes, we have “room check” weekly).

Dorm communication and meetings are held regularly for important schedule updates and for learning

and discussing new skills such as etiquette, personal health issues, adjusting to a new part of the world,

making friends far away from home, and discussing day to day or world events. Her dorm sisters will

become dear friends and they will learn to depend on one another.

She will learn to make choices and be encouraged to weigh important life decisions for the best

outcomes in areas such as social, emotional, educational, and spiritual. Your daughter will come to

appreciate the value of caring for herself and for others while preparing to become the very best

person she can be.
