• Registration for the 17th Annual Devil Dog Run is open. This year's run will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 8 a.m. with the starting point located near the Fort Sill Welcome and Conference Center, formerly known as Gunners Inn. Registration on the day of the event begins at 6:30 a.m. and costs $15. The run features a sanctioned 10K competitive event, 5K fun run and a static display of Marine Corps weapon systems. • It's almost time for the 12th Annual Body vs. Earth Triathlon. The event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area. It begins at 8 a.m. and includes a 500-meter swim, 18-mile bike race, and 4-mile run. Fees are $25 for Military, $30 for Civilians, and $85 for teams (mixed, male or female). • Permits go on sale Sept. 1 for the Oct. 2 post-wide garage sale. The garage sale will be on the hardstand lot east of Building 4700. Permits are available at the Outdoor Equipment Checkout Center in the RecPlex, 2502 Sheridan Road, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and from 2 - 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. - noon. Permits are also available at Family & MWR Headquarters, 4700 Mow-Way Road, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Permits are $15 for anyone who would like a spot on the hardstand. • The Fort Sill Golf Course is open to the public Tuesday through Friday for open play. Weekend play is still reserved for authorized users, family members and their guests. Currently hours of the course are from 6:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. or from dawn to dusk. For more information, call the Pro Shop at (580) 442-5441.

• Some full day pre-kindergarten slots are still available in the child development centers on Fort Sill. There are also a few slots still available for before and after school care for kindergarteners at the child development centers. Priority is given to those needing before and after school care. A waiting list is available. Registration for your child is free and sign-up is through Child, Youth, and School Services Parent Central Services, 4700 Mow-Way Road. • Are you P.H.A.T. (Pretty Hot And Tempting)? The P.H.A.T. Club offers education and physical activities during bi-weekly meetings. Meetings are offered on Wednesdays from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and in the afternoon from 5 - 6 p.m. The meetings are always dedicated to a special subject or body part of the day. Club members are welcome to bring their children to the meetings. Fitness assessments and progress measurements every 6 weeks will be offered. "Before and After" pictures and results will be available as recognition for member achievement.

• The NEOS Wall and NEOS 360 electronic outdoor games are located at Co-Op Park, off Fort Sill Boulevard on Upton Road. NEOS is the world’s first electronic play systems for the playground. It combines the speed and reflex action of video games with the explosive movement of aerobic exercise to create the most physically challenging and exciting activity ever to hit your play space. Playing NEOS delivers a workout for the heart and lungs - not just the thumbs. Each NEOS play system offers multiple, high-thrill games for solo or team players. • Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area has 10 lakeside rustic, wood cabins available for reservation in three different sizes. The four small cabins accommodate up to four people; the three medium cabins accommodate up to six people; and three large cabins accommodate seven people. The prices for the cabins are $55 for the small cabins; $65 for the medium cabins; and $75 for the large cabins. The cabins are available for reservation to all, but there is an additional $10 cost for civilians. The cabins come with all the amenities including furnishings; heat and air; a TV and DVD player; fully-stocked kitchens with dishes and silverware; and linens and towels are also provided. Reservations should be made up to two months in advance. The cabins are on the west side of LETRA. For reservations or questions call the Country Store, at (580) 442-5854.

• SKIES Unlimited is offering Tae Kwon Do/Self Defense classes. Registration is open and costs $45. The classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday at the Rinehart Physical Fitness Center. Times are: 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. for 4 to 5 year olds (Little Dragons); 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. for 6 to 12 year olds (Fire Dragons), and 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. for 13 and up (Elite). • Hourly care available at Grierson CDC The Alice Grierson Child Development Center offers hourly and full-time care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. The center's hours are 5 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. for full-time care and 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. for hourly care. There is limited space available. Parents must register with Child, Youth and School Services to utilize the new center. Call (580) 442-3927 for information.

• CYS Services offers range of services online with WebTrac CYS Services now offers WebTrac, an online payments and pre-registration service for CYS Services. The online service offers online registration for membership, enrollment in SKIES Unlimited, sports and special events, and placement on waiting lists. The knowledgeable staff does repairs, tune-ups, brake jobs, and more. Make your own vehicle repairs and save a bundle at the center. The center hosts automotive repair classes and movies every month. Classes are held in the classroom at the Automotive Skills Center. A mandatory safety class, which is required before using the facility, is offered 30 minutes after opening. Bay rentals start at $4 per hour. • Fort Sill Welcome & Conference Center offers food with Little Java Little Java is now open in the Fort Sill Welcome & Conference Center at 6045 Sheridan Road, formerly the Gunners Inn. Little Java offers appetite-pleasing breakfast, lunch and dinner menus at prices that can't be beat. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and evenings, Saturdays and Sundays by reservation only. Little Java can even do small catered events. • Sports program offers Stroll and Stride program The Stroll and Stride program is every Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 8 a.m. Moms and Dads with strollers and children are welcome to participate in this fun walk, which includes exercises on the go and the playground. It's a walk around the 3-mile track where parents and their children have to chance to socialize and play which each other while exercising. The instructor will show the participants how to use strollers or playground equipment in order to turn it into fitness equipment. If you are looking to spice up your walk and meet other parents, here is your chance. Participants meet at the parking lot pavilion at the 3-mile track. • Running Club meets Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 8 a.m. at Honeycutt The Fort Sill Running Club meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 a.m. at the Honeycutt Fitness Center. All running levels are welcome. Routes are picked to accommodate your fitness level. Beginners will be monitored by the instructor. The purpose of the club is to give patrons the possibility to find a "Running Buddy" and get you off the treadmill. Miles ran are also tracked. • Recycle Center collects recyclables The Recycle Center, located on the corner of Mow-Way and Sheridan Roads, offers collection bins available 24 hours a day. Users are reminded that the Recycle Center is a collection point for recyclable materials only, no trash. All recyclable materials must be placed inside the collection bins. Items placed in the bins are not eligible for unit “Cash for Trash” credit. If you have questions about what is accepted or the unit “Cash for Trash” program, please call (580) 442-5712 or 585-7865.

• Rec Hut checks out sports equipment for patrons Feel like playing some tennis or skating, but don't have the equipment? The Rec Hut recreation area can meet your needs. The Rec Hut (Bldg 602) is located next to Butner Field. Roller skates, roller blades and tennis racquets are available for check out. Equipment checkout is quick and easy: bring your picture ID and it will be returned to you when the equipment is returned. • Fort Sill Golf Course Mulligan's Restaurant open to golfers, walk-ins Mulligan's Restaurant, inside the Fort Sill Golf Club, is open for business. This informal and friendly restaurant is designed to give you exactly what you want - good food, a fun environment and a place to meet friends and family. Mulligan’s offers a complete breakfast menu. • Outdoor Adventure Center rents equipment and reserves on-post parks The Outdoor Adventure Center has everything you need for outdoor fun. • Monthly Meetings • The Fort Sill Family and Community Team Session, SillFACTS meeting, is Sept. 7 at the Fort Sill Welcome & Conference Center beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting serves as a focal point for information exchange on matters of community interest and increases communication and interaction between Fort Sill units/directorates/activities. The meeting is open to the public. All Directors, Brigade Commanders and CSMs, Battalion Commanders and CSMs, FRG leaders, FRSAs, spouses, DoD civilians, and installation staff are invited to attend. The Caravan Club is a great way for preschoolers and their families to enjoy educational field trips throughout Lawton Fort Sill, Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas. • Oktoberfest is slated Oct. 8 and 9 on Butner Field. Make plans to take the whole family to Fort Sill’s Oktoberfest and carnival at Fort Sill’s Butner Field, just south of the Patriot Club. The Oktoberfest will kick off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8 and continue on Saturday, Oct. 9 from noon to 11 p.m. The Oktoberfest and Carnival are open to the public and admission to the event is free. Activities include amusement rides, a pumpkin patch, assorted games, face painting, inflatables and many more activities. The keg-tapping ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 in the main fest tent. Come out and experience a huge variety of games, entertainment, German cuisine and beverages at Fort Sill’s Oktoberfest. In case of inclement weather festivities will be held inside the Patriot Club.

• Christ Kindl Markt vendor sign up starts Sept. 27 and runs through Nov. 22. • The CGs Community Walk will be on Oct. 15 at the Polo Field beginning at 1:30 p.m. The

Mind, Body and Spirit Health Fair will return for the participants to get health and fitness information, basic health screenings and participate in some fitness class demonstrations.

• The Commander's and Command Sergeants Major softball game has been changed to Oct. 22 at the Cannoneers’ Complex. Call the Sports Office at 442-5623 for more information.
