Missoula Children’s TheatreAlice in Wonderland

Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT), a nationally-acclaimed educational-enhancement organiza-tion focusing on children’s theater is coming with PROPS (Plays, Recitals, Orchestration, Plays and Stagecraft) to Fort Sill for a week long Theatre experience from June 13 through June 18.

Page 21: Fort Sill Family & MWR Spring Guide

performances, recitals, orchestration, plays & stagecraft

In response to the Army Family Covenant (AFC), Child, Youth & School (CYS) Services has created PROPS, a program that offers on-stage performing arts experiences before a live audience. PROPS provides Army Garrisons world-wide with workshops for 6-18 year-old children and youth covering all aspects of the theater, to include auditioning, role playing, stage craft, makeup, sound design, as well as costume and set design.

PROPS is supported by Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT), a nationally-acclaimed educational-enhancement organization. MCT supplies their expertise in theatrical education to each Garrison participating in PROPS. MCT, whose mission is the development of life skills in young people through participation in the performing arts, is already an entity familiar to Army Families around the world.

The goal of PROPS is to develop life skills in young people through participation in the performing arts. Two professionals from the Mis-soula Children’s Theater staff (MCT) will provide workshops for 5-18 year old children and youth covering all aspects of the theater, to include auditioning, role play-ing, stage craft, makeup, sound design, as well as costume and set design. The end of the week will culminate with the production “Alice in Wonderland.”

Interested children and youth are chosen to participate in PROPS by auditioning before the MCT staff. After selection the youth must commit to: five days of 4 hour practices Monday through Friday and an on stage performance. Depending on selections, children may not be required to attend all practices during the four hours. Workshops will be between 10am-2:30pm, two rehearsal sessions are scheduled each day with a 30 minute snack break. Youth who would like to learn and have fun during this week-long event must be registered at Parent Central Services, 4700 Mow Way Road, or register online at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/sillcyms.html prior to the Monday auditions. Audition registration will begin May 2. For more infor-mation call at (580) 442-4831.
