Dec. 11-12 - Trees For Troops - In an effort to make the holidays a little brighter, live Christmas trees will be distributed from the Recycle Center for free to Active Duty Military and their Families. The trees are given out on a first come, first serve basis. The schedule for distribution is: Saturday, December 11th from 7:30 am - 5 pm; Sunday, December 12th from 9 am - 5 pm. Dec. 31-Jan. 1 - New Year’s Eve Celebration at Twin Oaks Bowling Center from 8 pm - 1 am for all ages. Cost is $80 and includes one lane for eight bowlers, with shoes and unlimited bowling, two 1-topping pizzas, four soda pitchers, and an order of nachos. There will also be champagne and grape juice for the toast along with party favors. For more info, call (580) 442-2882. Reservations are required in advance.

Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS)

Hired Apprentice Program - provides 15-18 years old valuable work expe-rience and workforce preparation training. Terms are 12 weeks in length. Upon successful completion of the term, participants are eligible for a cash award. The Winter Term is December 4th - Feb. 24th. For an application for the Hired! Dec. 3, 10, 17 - Money Matters - Youth Center members can participate in the Boys and Girls Club financial curriculum to learn about budgeting, sav-ing, investing, planning for college, credit, and entrepreneurship. This free class takes place from 4-6 pm and members who attend all three classes can apply for a scholarship. For more information, contact the Youth Center director at (580) 442-5959.

Dec. 3 - Chickasha Christmas Lights - Youth Center members will take a free trip to Chickasha to view the annual Christmas lighting display. Slots are reserved with signed permission slips only. Members depart from the Youth Center at 6 pm and return at 10 pm.

Dec. 11 - Holiday in the Park - Youth Center members will travel to Six Flags Over Texas for $35. Members depart from the Youth Center at 10:30 am and return at midnight. Only 45 tickets are available and include a meal ticket.

Dec. 14 - SKIESUnlimited Piano Recital at the Frontier Chapel 6 -8 pm.Refreshments will be served. This event is open to public.

Dec. 18-Jan. 3 - The Youth Center will be closed for fire alarm maintenance. Youth may return on January 4, 2011. On-post activities will be provided at other locations through out the month for YC Members.

Jan. 22 - Polar Bear Plunge and 5K Run takes place at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area (LETRA). The 5K Run begins at 8 a.m. and the Plunge begins at 9 a.m. Race registration is $15 for ID card holders and $20 for Civilians. Registration on event day increases by $5. Registrants receive a T-shirt, a goodie bag, refreshments and get a chance to win door prizes.TOO CHICKEN TO PLUNGE?? You can still participate in the 5K Run and participate in the Costume Contest. The Hired! Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth valuable work experience and work-force preparation training.

The Spring Term (February 26 – May 20) application deadline is February 4. Participants will have the opportunity to explore secondary education options and a variety of career paths. Hired! offers teens valuable experi-ences and trainings to better equip each participant with the skills needed for a highly-competitive job market. School Support Services assists Military Families with information on the 17 surrounding public schools, four private schools and the Garrison. The school liaison officers (SLOs) gather and distribute information and coordinate STARBASE and the Army Partnership with Local Area Schools (APLAS). STARBASE is a math and science program for 5th graders to renew their interest in the subjects. APLAS services Kindergarten-12th graders with mentoring, leadership and parent involvement.
