El género documental ha sido quizá el más desarrollado desde los inicios de la fotografía como práctica artística. Al ser, aparentemente, la técnica más objetiva y fiel con lo representado, la fotografía liberó a las demás artes del deber de retratar la realidad.
La fotografía documental nos muestra circunstancias y acontecimientos a veces deplorables que, al estar frente a ellos, nos piden mantengamos distancia. El punto de vista de cada fotógrafo documentalista ha incidido de manera determinante en lo que respecta a la construcción de la imagen y así, lo que pertenecía únicamente al área del fotoperiodismo se ha desplazado extendiendo sus propios límites.
De esta manera, se crean series documentales que enriquecen el campo artístico más allá del periodístico. Con esto como base, Patricia Conde Galería presenta “fotografía documental”, muestra colectiva que señala los alcances que la lente capta en un escenario urbano. El artista registra los espacios fotogénicos dejándonos documentos icónicos de nuestra cultura. Imágenes que, aunque nunca casuales, son fieles a la espontaneidad que alimenta la llamada “realidad”.

Apparently being the most objective and accurate technique for the depicted object, photography released other arts from their commitment of representing reality.
Documentary photography presents every so often deplorable events and circumstances, demanding us to keep distance while confronting them. The point of view of each documentary photographer has a decisive influence in regard to the construction of the image and so, what belonged only to photojournalism has displaced extending its own limits. Hence, documentary series are created nourishing the artistic field beyond journalism. With this as a reference, Patricia Conde Galeríaa presents “documentary photography,” a group show highlighting the scope a lens captures in an urban setting. The artist records photogenic spaces leaving us iconic documents of our culture. Images that, nevertheless intended, are faithful to the spontaneity of the so called “reality.”
