HATWith smaller needle and CC, CO 100 (112) sts. Pm for BOR, being careful to not twist sts, and join to work in the rnd. Work 2 x 2 Rib for 1".

Fitted Hat, Inc rnd: *[K3, m1] twice, k4, m1; rep from * – 130 sts.Switch to larger circular needle and knit 1 rnd.Slouchy Hat, Inc rnd: *K2, m1; rep from * – 168 sts.Switch to larger circular needle and k 1 rnd, evenly increasing 2 sts – 170 sts.

All sizes: Work Heart Pattern. When chart is complete, knit 2 rnds with CC. Switch to MC (do not cut CC) and knit 6 (10) rnds. Knit 0 (1) rnd with CC.

Place crown markers for decreases: With MC, k13 (17), pm, [k26 (34), pm] 4 times, k13 (17).

Crown Dec rnd[K to 2 sts before marker, s2kp] 5 times, k to end – 10 sts dec’d.

Read next section carefully before continuing, CC stripes and crown decreases are worked at the same time.

Work CC stripes: After first crown dec rnd, knit 3 (9) rnds with MC then 1 rnd with CC. Cont to work 1 rnd of CC every 12th rnd 1 (2) more time(s) – 2 (4) CC stripes (CC stripes are always worked immediately after the crown dec rnd). Break CC and cont with MC.Rep crown dec rnd every 3rd rnd (switch to dpns when necessary) until 30 sts rem then work crown dec rnd every other rnd twice – 10 sts. Cut yarn and thread through rem sts twice, pull tightly to close hole at top of hat.

Wrap and turn (w & t)(RS): With yarn in back, slip next st from LH to RH needle, bring yarn to front, slip st back to LH needle, turn.(WS): With yarn in front, slip next st from LH to RH needle, bring yarn to back, slip st back to LH needle, turn.

Place Bead: Thread bead on steel crochet hook, slip st from LH needle to crochet hook and pull stitch through bead then slip stitch back to LH needle and knit on RS, purl on WS.

WRAPWith larger needle, use long tail method to CO 383 sts. Change to smaller needle and work chart, using crochet hook to place beads on WS rows. When chart is complete, 311 sts rem.

Keeping first and last 3 sts in Gtr st, work 2 rows in St st. Place removable marker in center stitch – 155 sts each side of marker.

Setup short rows:(RS): Knit to 2 sts past center st, w & t.(WS): Purl to 2 sts past center st, w & t.

Short rows:Note: Pick up each wrap and work it with the stitch it wraps.(RS): Knit to 1 st before turn, ssk, k2, w & t – 1 st dec’d.(WS): Purl to 1 st before turn, p2tog, p2, w & t – 1 st dec’d.Rep the last 2 rows until 4 unworked sts rem on each side, and end short rows as follows:(RS): Knit to 1 st before turn, ssk, knit to end.(WS): K3, Purl to 1 st before turn, p2tog, knit to end – 235 sts.

Place beads every other st across row as follows (RS): K3, ssk, *k1, place bead; rep from * to last 6 sts, k1, k2tog, k3.

Knit 3 rows, beg and end with a WS row. With larger needle, loosely BO all sts knitwise.

FINISHINGWet-block shawl, pinning lace section open.
