Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Matthew 11:25-30

“...for although you have hidden these

things from the wise and the learned

you have revealed them to the little

ones”

The deacon explained to a group of seven year old’s pre-paring for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist that God sent them into the world with a unique array of Tal-ents, Abilities and Gifts (TAG) that God wanted them to spend a lifetime to Discover, Accept, Develop and Use to the best of their ability for their own benefit and for the benefit of others. He asked the class “What would the world be like if everyone was using all of their TAG to the best of their ability for themselves and others; accepting the benefit of the gifts others had to offer; everyone hap-py with their own gifts and happy for others who had dif-ferent gifts. One little seven year old girl in the front row quickly raised her hand and said, “Oh, deacon, that would be Heaven!” The little girl reminds us that intelligence and knowledge are not a guarantee of wisdom and that the learned sometimes outsmart themselves, while the “little ones” can be very wise.

Word of Life Weekly Quote “O God our creator...through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society.” United States Conference of Catholic Bishops “Prayer for Religious Liberty”

We now invite parish pastoral council members, liturgy,

finance, and other parish committee members to a follow-

up series of four additional webinars in June and July.

Each evening we will focus on one of the movements of

“Encounter,” “Accompany,” “Community,” and “Send.”

These webinars will be recorded so they can be viewed

later by anyone else on your parish committees who are

not able to attend. Together, we will discuss how to help

our parishes grow Missionary Disciples. The link to view

the recordings is https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Alpha Introduction Webinar Are you looking for a way to help people have a life changing encounter with God? Alpha is a proven strategy in Catholic parishes across the country and is a process that works. Built on fundamental principles that engage people and help them talk about faith, you won’t want to miss this webinar. Check out Alpha.org and explore the program for yourself. Then gather a team and join us for the webinar with the National Catholic Director of Alpha to learn if this might be the next right step for your parish. The goal is to offer pilot Alpha programs this fall and to kickoff Alpha in parishes across the diocese in January 2021. Sign up with Jeff Andrini, Director of the Office of Evangelization and Discipleship for the Diocese of Ow-ensboro, [email protected]. Watch for more infor-mation this summer. COVID-19 Tests

The Audubon Area Community Care Clinic in Owensboro

is conducting COVID-19 tests for the community. Their

hours are 8-12 pm and 1:30-5 pm Monday – Friday. If

people have insurance, insurance is billed for the test but

there is no other charge. For those without insurance, you

can still get a test without charge. Tests are usually back

between 24-36 hours. Call 270-686-6040 to set an ap-

pointment.

Family Retreats @ Gasper In addition to Gasper on the Go!, Gasper River is offering

family retreats at the camp this summer. Bring your family

out just for the day or stay a night or two! There are many

options available. You can book a lodge, bring your own

meals or have Gasper provide meals (catered), hike and

explore, do activities, or just enjoy God's creation togeth-

er. Call or email Gasper to make a reservation or to get

more information and pricing details: 270-781-2466 or

[email protected].
