OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINISTRY

WEE WORSHIP BAGS AND BULLETINS are now available in the narthex. Bulletins are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12. Please return the bags to the basket after service.

From the KIRKIN' O' THE TARTAN committee. Our banners have been ordered and will be on display in early March. Our next Kirkin' O' the Tartans service will be March 20 at 11:00 a.m. We will have a covered dish meal, so invite your family and friends. We plan to have 2 bagpipers and 1 drummer.

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING began with a simple prayer from a single youth group: "Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat." Since that day, more than $71 million has been raised for local charities across the country. It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around Super Bowl weekend into the nation's largest celebration of giving and serving. Be part of this movement that is sharing God's love with those in need. Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday. Youth will be collecting your dollars and cans of soup following worship on Sunday, February 6.

Pick up your SUPER BOWL SUBS after worship. Proceeds will go towards the Montreat Youth Conference.

The next WORSHIP FOR YOUth event will be February 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Bethelwoods.

The next KIDS NIGHT OUT event at Bethelwoods will be held February 18 from 5:30-10:30 p.m.

The SWEET SLICE OF SCOTTISH HISTORY series will be on February 27, March 6 and March 13. The program for February 27 has been changed and we now plan to have a group of dancers from Charlotte performing Scottish dances. On March 6, we will have Peter Wilson from The Scottish Weaver in Charlotte. Peter will tell us about Scottish attire for men and women. Most of our tartans have been purchased from The Scottish Weaver. On March 13, Sam Thomas Jr. will present a program on The Scotch-Irish of the Waxhaws. Sam is the curator of the T.R.R. Cobb House Museum in Athens, Georgia and is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Sam Thomas Sr. Each program will start at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall, and desserts will be served. There will no charge for these programs, but donations will be accepted and appreciated. Child care will be provided. Please plan to attend and bring your friends.

2011 OFFERING ENVELOPES may be picked up in the church library.

LITURGISTS NEEDED. If you are interested in serving as a liturgist, please contact Paul Smith. The months of January through April, 2011 have been filled.

Our CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY is expressed to Catherine Johnson and family in the death of Brooks Johnson on February 2, 2011.

Flyers and applications for the Providence Presbytery 2011 MISSION TRIP TO GUATEMALA are now available. Travel to Guatemala over Labor Day Week (September 2-10, 2011) and work not only with in-service training for local primary school teachers but also agricultural and building projects and small medical clinics along the Caribbean Coast (Department of Izbal) and in central Guatemala (Palencia). The PWCT is asking that you save your Campbell Soup labels as well as General Mills cereal coupons from the box. The labels and coupons will be sent to the Thornwell School in Clinton to be used for school supplies and athletic equipment. A collection box has been placed in the kitchen for your convenience.
