The first of the free baby knitting patterns is a boot pattern for 6 month old baby.

Free Baby Knitting Patterns:

Materials—Fleisher’s Baby Zephyr, 41.

Gauge: 15 sts = 2 inches; 15 ridges = 2 inches

Cast on 34 sts.

First row (wrong side)—

2nd row—Turn, k 10.

3rd row—Turn, k 10. Continue to work garter st (k every row) back and forth on these 10 sts for instep, until there are 14 ridges (29 rows), end on wrong side. Break yarn.

Foot—Join yarn, k the 12 sts on left hand needle.

Next row—K 12 sts, pick up and k 1 st in e10 instep sts, pick up and k 14 sts on other edge of instep, k remaining 12 sts (62 sts). Work 1 ¼ ins. (about 9 ridges).

First dec. row—K 2 tog, k 27, k 2 tog twice, k 27, k 2 tog (58 sts). K 1 row.

2nd dec. row—K 2 tog, k 25, k 2 tog twice, k 25, k 2 tog (54 sts). K 1 row.

3rd dec. row—K 2 tog, k 23, k 2 tog twice, k 23, k 2 tog (50 sts). Bind off.

Straps—Cast on 32 sts. K 2 rows.

3rd row—K 2, yo (buttonhole), k 2 tog, k to end. K 1 row. Bind off. Make 2nd strap, working buttonhole at end of row.

Steam. Sew back seam. Sew 12 center sts of castat center back. Sew on other strap to button on opposite side.

This sweater is for 3 years old boys. If you have a 3 year old kiddo and would like to take up a sweater project then this is a great starting point.

MATERIAL REQUIRED American Thread"Clover Leaf" Germantown4-1 oz. Balls Amber 1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles #86 Small Buttons.

Gauge

5 sts= 1 inch 13 rows=2 inches

Cast on 108 sts.

1st Row. K 1 st, P 1 st, repeat to end of row.

2nd Row. P 1 st, K 1 st, repeat to end oftwice.

7th Row. K 1 st, P 1 st. Bind off 2 sts for buttonhole. K 1, P 1 to within the last 6 sts, these and the first 6 sts are worked in seed st all the way up the fronts and are not referred to again in the dire

Free Baby Knitting Patterns: Boy's Knitted Sweater

This sweater is for 3 years old boys. If you have a 3 year old kiddo and would like to take up a sweater project then this is a great starting point.

Thread Company "Dawn"

"Clover Leaf" Germantown 1 oz. Balls Amber

1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles #8

5 sts= 1 inch 13 rows=2 inches

. K 1 st, P 1 st, repeat to end of row.

P 1 st, K 1 st, repeat to end of row and repeat these two rows of seed st

K 1 st, P 1 st. Bind off 2 sts for buttonhole. K 1, P 1 to within the last 6 sts, these and the first 6 sts are worked in seed st all the way up the fronts and are not referred to again in the directions.

Purl and cast on the 2 sts in border for buttonhole.

K 2, P 2, repeat to end of row.

13th Row. K 2, P 2. The last 4 rows form the pattern and are repeated for entire sweater.

Repeat pattern for 6 ½ inches ending with right front and spacing buttonholes about 2 ¼ inches apart.

Next row begin shaping armholes. Work 30 sts and slip on a thread (right front), K 48 and slip on a thread (back) K on remaining 30 sts for left front, keeping the front edge even and decreasing 1 st at armhole every 3rd row 14 times, bind off.

Slip 48 back sts on needle and decrease 1 st each side every 3rd row 14 times. Work other front to correspond.

SLEEVE. Cast on 30 sts, work 6 rows in seed st. Change to pattern st, work 1 inch even and then increase 1 st each side then increase 1 st at each end every ¾ inch 6 more times, keeping pattern straight. Work until sleeve measures 8 inches then decrease 1 st each end every 3rd row 14 times, bind off remaining sts and work other sleeve to correspond. Sew sleeves in position.

COLLAR. With wrong side of work toward you and omitting the seed st border at each side, pick up and knit 50 sts, 9 at each front, 8 at each sleeve and 16 at back. Work in seed st for 2 ½ inches. Finish with buttons. This sweater may also be made

in "Dawn" Knitting Worsted.

Materials—Fleisher’s Wonderized Babyfair, 1 ball; or Fleisher’s Baby Zephyr, 31 ball.

Double Pointed White Knitting Needles, 2 pairs Size 0.

Gauge: 27 rounds = 2 inches

Cuff—Cast on 40 sts on 3 needles (12ins. Work 1 more round of ribbing. Increasing 1 st in center of every k rib, by picking up and knitting the loop between the 2 k sts (50 sts).

Pattern—First round—* Yo, slip 1 st as to k, k 2 tog, pass slip st over the 2 tog, yo, p 2; repeat from * to end.

2nd, 3rd and 4th round—until leg measures 3 ¼ ins. from cuff, end with 4th pattern round.

Heel—K 28 sts for heel to 1 needle; slip the next 22 sts to 2 needles for instep. Turn, slip 1, p to end, turn; slip 1, k to end. Repeat these 2 rows 7 times (17 rows for heel).

To Turn heel—Slip 1, p 15, p 2 tog, p 1, turn; slip 1, k 5, slip, k and pass, k1, p 6, p 2 tog, p 1, turn; slip 1, k 7, slip, k and pass, k 1, turn; continue in this way to work 1 st more before dec. on every row until all sts are worked; 16 sts left on heel needle.

Foot—With heel needle, pick up and k 9 sts on side of heel;p 2, work as for first pattern row across the 22 instep sts; with another needle, pick up and k 9 sts on other side of heel and to same needle k the first 8 heel sts; 56 sts. Continue lace pattern on instep sts. Work 1 round even.
