• Small 1: 8-10 oz grated cheese or 1 lb of ground beef

• Small 2: 1 – 1 ½ lbs. cubed meat, 2-3 butterfly pork chops or 1 lb. frozen vegetables

• Medium 1: 1 lb. ground beef, 1½ lb. boneless chicken breast, 1 lb. fish fillet or 6 muffins

• Medium 2: 3 ½ lbs. chicken thighs or 2 lbs. French fries

• Large 2: 4-5 lbs. chicken wings

• Usage Suggestions

• Vegetables in season: freeze vegetables from your own vegetable garden or buy when quality and price are at

their best and freeze for use during the year.

• Prep ahead of time: chop onions, peppers, or garlic to save preparation time when cooking.

• Fruits through the year: freeze fresh fruits according to recommended methods, for example with sugar, a syrup, or

as ready to cook. For soft berries, it’s best to freeze as a puree then serve as a topping with winter fruits.

• Sauces, soups, stews, chowders, and chili—save time by cooking large quantities and freezing in suitable portions.

• Meat: save money and buy meat in bulk or family-size packs, and repackage into dinner-size portions for your

family. Or try spreading out the pieces, which freezes the meat faster, making it easy to remove and thaw just the

amount you need.

• Baked Goods: make treats such as scones, brownies, cookies, bars, and sweet breads ahead of time. When ready

to use, store and/or carry them in the same container.

• Leftovers: freeze leftovers for use later.
