Often referred to as "cardio," this type ofexercise includes running, biking, speed walking and any other activity that increases your heartrate. When your heartrate is up, you are burning fat. Make it a point to engage in half an hour ofcardio at least 3 times per week.

Choose lean meat over fatty meat, and watch the pounds melt away. A nice salsa or chutney worksjust as well, even better, than cream and steack sauces. If you use a low fat sauce it will add flavor toyour meat, and help to keep it moist. Chutneys come in a wide variety of flavors and make yourproteins stand out.

Don't eat during the late night hours. Thistype of eating adds pounds because thebody cannot process food efficiently whenit is resting. You will find yourself losingweight by eating dinner late and avoidinglate-night snacks.

If you have a mathematical mind, weightloss is really just an equation. There areabout 3,500 calories in a pound of fat. Tolose a pound, you need to burn 3500calories. The best way to do this is bytaking 500 calorie chunks and set a goalto burn 500 more calories every day than

you take in. That way, you will lose about one pound every week.

Some new fad diets require you to eliminatecarbohydrates completely from your daily dietto see real weight loss. Nutritionally, this is abad idea. Everybody needs carbohydrates tofunction properly, and that's especially truefor athletes. Carbohydrates are sources ofenergy for your activities including workingout, so be sure you eat them healthily.

Use whole wheat pasta instead of regularpasta. You might be tempted to cut outcarbohydrates like pasta when you are trying to lose weight. A better option is switching to wholewheat. They are good for you. They also fill you up.
