giver and recipient are of different races or cultures. For example,

giving a clock as a gift to a Chinese friend is a no-no; giving a clock

meaning, you are sending him/her off (death). Therefore, there is a

need to understand and study about others culture before gifting.

2. It may not serve as a benefit. There are toys nowadays

portraying animation characters or cartoons, while some come

with weapons. It is not advisable to give gifts as such to young

children, as it symbolizes violence. Some parents would even give

their children pornographic materials, representing that their

children are grown-ups. This may be bad influence on the

childrens mind, thus creating social issues later on.

3. It may spark misunderstandings. This happens frequently when

you give something that is far from the gift recipients preference.

You can avoid this if you have done enough homework on choosing

the best gift for others. If you cannot figure this out, do not be shy

about asking. If you intend to make it a surprise, ask those who are
